Title: Slate problem?
Post by: Swampmonkey on February 18, 2025, 06:20:08 PM
Received a green slate call in the mail today. It sounds great but I noticed it had a slight ridge on the surface that runs about 3/4 across . Has anyone ever seen that before? Is it just an imperfection or will it turn into a crack? I've never seen that on any slate I've owed in the past

Is it a streak in the color or a bump in the slate?  I've gotten a lot of green slate in the last year that has streaks running through it.  These are from all i can tell just cosmetic and pose no problems.

It's an actual bump in the slate. You can barely feel it with your finger

If it plays I'd not worry about it.  It could be marks from the quarry.  A lot of what I've gotten this year is less than impressive. First contact whoever built it and explain your concern.

I've gotten a few less than stellar pieces to I've had to sand a decent bit to get flat and smooth.
