I have a Franchi Affinity 3 in 20 gauge with a 26" barrel which is about as long as I'd like for turkey hunting. Im wondering if anyone has any experience with a flush mount choke for turkeys. I have been shooting a Carlson .575 extended choke and like it. Puts about 260-270 or so in a 10" circle at 40 yards. I have shot my factory full and it puts about 200 in a 10" at 40 yards. I see where they have a .575 turkey choke that is a flush mount. Would prefer to keep the barrel as short as possible and thought I'd look into this.
.575 should be just right with 8 or 9 TSS. Flush mount should be just fine.
The Carlsons .575 extended is already pretty short and works great, I wouldn't fuss about it myself.. but if you're really invested in shortening it by the 3/4", there's only one way to find out if it pairs well with your gun.
I don't know anyone that uses a flush mount for turkey, but ultimately, if it patterns well, why not? If you do it, let us know how it works out.
I appreciate it! I'm thinking for 25.00 Ill order one and see how it does. Will let you know if I end up doing it!
I switched my 12ga 870 to a Carlson .690. It is a flush mount and not too tight at reasonable range. It patterns well with Apex TSS. Every combo is an experiment. Good luck.
