Title: Deer winding down.
Post by: reflexl on January 03, 2025, 01:38:09 PM
This is the last weekend of deer season. Killed a decent 10pt, no monster and a huge doe. We have already ate some of the doe. Very good. I saw the buck I have been after all year when leaving New Years day. Might get lucky tomorrow.

Well I am thinking about birds. Deer is over. Our birds disappeared. We maintained a flock on property between 100 and 150 for over 30 years and poof. TWRA had their population study biologist here 3 years ago. They said we were in a decline. They said the flyovers proved it was recreational bush hogging. We leave tons of unmolested land for the birds to nest and hide in. I have talked to people for several miles around us and they aren't seeing birds either. Time to pray.

More importantly, how's your health? Hope you got all that taken care of last year.

I am doing better now. After getting ran through the ringer the cardiologist and nephrologist both found a problem with my medication. One medication that I was on appears to have been the culprit. The nephrologist said the test that went to the Mayo clinic had to be wrong so he re-ordered that work up. As of right now I am headed in the right direction. This stuff wrecked my turkey season last year. Very hopeful for this year. I am definitely feeling more like a human.

We already been eating that doe. The neat is very good. Going to make some goulash this week with some of the burger.
