Title: Something Special
Post by: MK M GOBL on July 22, 2024, 05:01:03 PM
I had some success this past spring with my Learn to Hunt Student, the 3 kids I had out for the Youth Hunt Weekend, a couple of buddies during regular season and I even squeezed the trigger a few times.

A writer I met through a number of events over the years was watching some of my posts to my FanAtic Turkey Displays FB Page and had me send him pictures from this past spring. Each of the kids made it into the Safari Club International SCI Hunters Magazine for the July/Aug Issue for WI/IL Chapters!
"The Fan Club"

I have been making Displays for each of the kids and I included a personal copy of the issue for each of them, just "Something Special" for them.

I made this one up for Nora!

What an experience... not to mention a Beautiful Personalized Trophy to go along with it.
Kudos to all involved.

Very cool, Randy. Your dedication is admirable. I really like the fan base-block with the kiddos picture included in the wood. That is an exceptional touch...and I wonder how you did that?

Also, for those making fan mounts of any sort, note the precision and symmetry of the feather placement in Randy's work. Every feather is carefully placed and groomed. That is what each of us should be focusing on when trying to display our fans.  Well done, my friend! :icon_thumright:

Thanks for the comment!

These pictures are laser engraved into the wood; I have these done locally through another business. All I have to do is send a digital picture in the highest resolution, then I send him the quoted text for the bottom of beard board.

Yes, it takes some time to get them fans "right", just part of the passion in what I do.

Thanks again!
