Title: YES
Post by: savduck on July 22, 2011, 07:21:04 PM
Some of you guys know that Im scheduled to be laid off on August 31st. I have a 14 week severance waiting if that happens. There is still work, and I would expect them to ask me to stay, but after 8 years and knowing even another extension would be short lived, Ive been thinking about taking the money and running. It would mean a huge change and some struggle for my family but at least I could turn the page and start to rebuild.

Well in order to be able to run, I need a new job, so I decided two weeks ago that I would start getting resumes out. I sent 4 out Monday, and  already had an interview that lead to a new job offer today. I also have a second company that has been calling me all week but we cant connect for an interview, this is the one I really want, back home with my family. Seems like jobs are coming out the wood work. All the offers are far less, but I expected that hit, and making less is better than not doing anything. Just knowing that  I now have a place to go lifted a lot of weight of my shoulders.

I know what your going through.  Been there and done that.  I had a great job and it went to Mexico.  Now I got one that probably is even better overall with better benefits and more money down the road.  You'll be ok.

I hope it works out like you want it to. I know how it weighs on a man with a family to support when his job security is in the balance. I'm glad you already have an offer.
