Title: "A" for effort
Post by: zelmo1 on June 25, 2024, 05:19:07 AM
I saw a jake chasing 2 hens yesterday, gotta give him credit. Also saw 2 sandhill cranes in the field. First ones I ever saw up here. Nice to see new things. Z

That is cool. The Jake must have thought the two hens were real lookers!

Those cranes are funny to see. I see a few during scouting season and hunting season.

Jakes are like 16 or 17 year old boys, chasing anything and everything. Some of us still remember what that was like!

Last week I saw three jakes strutting with a lone hen in a fresh cut hay field. Wonder if any of them got any  :z-flirtysmile3:

Chances are the three jakes more than likely got in a fight and the hen walked off all alone or found a girlfriend.

Cranes around this neck of the woods were almost nonexistent 20 years ago, now they're all over the place. I usually see more crane than turkeys in fields.

I started seeing the cranes about 10 years ago. I watched two fight of two coyotes one day. The cranes were very effective.
