When you guys are patterning guns, what percentage of payload are you looking to get inside the 20 inch circle? just wondering what everyone was getting with their preferred load. Thanks!
With TSS and today's chokes, you should put 90-95% in a 20" circle at a measured 40 yards. Yo could probably get higher percentages, but that pattern will be mighty tight at closer distances.
Depending on the load. I'm good with 70-75% if it's good and even
I also use TSS and like an even pattern. In my 20 gauge I've patterned different loads and choke combinations but this is what I've settled on over the last couple years. A link to pictures at the bottom.
Apex TSS 1 5/8 #9, Carlsons .555 231 in 10" 197 in 20" / 428 total out of approximately 590 pellets. 40% in 10" / 72% in 10" + 20" at 40 yards
Apex TSS 1 5/8 #9, Carlsons .590 extra full 189 in 10" 237 in 20" / 426 total out of approximately 590 pellets approx. 32% in 10" / 72% in 10" + 20" at 40 yards

85%
100% Tighter chokes are not that much less forgiving at close range from what I have seen.
Do any chokes do 100% in the 20, not likely but I will take all I can get.
