How many hunt the fall turkey season? I'll be hunting them this fall for the first time.  :icon_thumright:

Dont have a fall season here in GA. Been to WV plenty of times when it was in, but since I was there duck hunting, none of my buddies ever wanted to chase gobblers. I would like to go.

No we cant hunt where I Live.

I hunt the fall every year

I love it.  I have to travel out of state to do it, but I manage to  make 3-4 trips each fall.

i usually have a call or two with me when i`m bowhunting deer in the fall,or if i fill my deer tag i`ll chase them with the shotgun.

              Your not that far. Come on up and we can chase around a couple flocks. It will be alot of fun!!! Southwest Pa. Lots of fall birds. Usually between 20 and 80 birds in a flock.

I went to Kansas about 4 years ago in the fall.  You can buy "4" tags in the fall.  Nobody was around....the turkeys were herded up and they were STUPID!  I did not have any problem killing two birds....both nice 3 year old gobblers.  Did not call them in.  They were both ambush kills.  I have been hunting in the fall ever since.  Mainly to scout out an area for spring hunting.  If you have a spare weekend in the fall.....you should try fall turkey hunting....it is a blast!

I normally hunt Turkey's in the Fall, but this is the second year in a row that Michigan is not allowing a Fall hunt in my area.

You can hunt Southern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, but no hunting in the Northern Lower Peninsula.    Looks like I might be doing some driving this Fall, because I don't want to miss another Fall hunt.

Anyone hunt turkeys in the fall in florida????? just wondering if its pretty much the same as the spring.

  Fall turkey hunting is a blast !  Only bad thing is that if you kill one here in Va. in the fall , thats one less  gobbler in the spring you can kill. Only allowed 3 per year, spring & fall. Been thinking real hard on a Boykin turkey dog for fall hunting. Have never turkey hunted with a dog. I hear its great !

Anymore that is all I hunt during the Fall.  I hunt deer just enough to put some in the freezer.  I hunt turkeys in the Fall mainly with a bow but use a shotgun during the two shotgun seasons.  If you really want to hear turkey talk start Fall hunting.  The hen talk is awesome and once in a while the toms do gobble.

Fall turkey hunting is totally different than the Spring no matter what state your in.  I enjoy it just as much as Spring hunting.

What style of call should I look at using? Yelps, purrs etc

if ya split up young birds the kee kee or an assembly yelp.if gobblers a gobbler yelp and clucks.i have had gobblers assemble out in front of me before and once they saw each other they gobbled like crazy and strutted because they were so happy to see each other i guess.

The fall hunt is a great way to hear turkey talk you will not hear in the spring. If you can split up a flock , just set back and listen to them trying to get back together. A good box call to yelp and a ghost cut diaphram to kee kee and the game is on! If you're not into bustin' 'em up, just go to an area where you know the birds frequent and call, they are very vocal in the fall. It's such a beautiful time to be in the woods. Scouting that big buck is a great way to locate fall flocks.

Fall is my favorite time to turkey hunt,and I add 1 more state to the trip.IL,KS,NE&MO.I also mix it up and use a shotgun in fall.

My buddy asked to go fall turkey last year.  I finally relented from sitting my butt in a tree stand nearing the rutt.  Man, we had a blast.  We got on about 3 different flocks during the weekend.  One flock I roosted while sitting in a blind with my bow waiting for deer.  I stayed until dark, then called him.  First thing next morning we walk in and got too close.  They busted off the roost.  I told him well lets just sit down because that is what it says on the forums.  Sure enough, when light came those birds started talking from all different directions and worked their way back.  It was weird.  There were so many birds, my buddy was moving his shotgun to get them lined up, and it was like we weren't even there.  Needless to say, I was hooked.

I fall turkey hunted this spring in MS. Me and Catdaddy busted a flock and 20 minutes later called in 3 longbeards kee keeing and old raspy hen yelping. Worked great.

Dont have  aplace to do it.  When Arkansas had it, one year I missed a bird while deer hunting.  Clean miss, shot went at its feet.  Was suprised to stalk to bow range on a turkey.

Ill take you up on that one of these days when the economy recovers and extra money starts flowing in again.

Tried it once when I lived in Virginia and it didn't take, but I'm going to try again this year.  Looking to expand turkey season beyond March, April and May.  Too many states left on the bucket list!

Fall turkey hunting is great time to be in the woods here in pa ,,Been doing it every year from the time i started hunting

Personally I would rather fall hunt with my dog anytime over the spring hunt. To me it's a much more exciting hunt. :happy0064:

I love turkey hunting in the fall. Man there is nothing like seeing 20 or 25 gobblers alltogether. Now getting one to play thats a whole different matter.

i live for the gobble and the kings of spring.

furthermore, i don't wouldn't want to be running around my timber leaving scent and stirring up my whitetails.

There used to be a Fall archery season in AR that went along with archery deer season from Oct. through Feb. You could kill on of either sex. I killed my first few turkeys from the deer stand and begin to watch and listen to their calls. Then there was a gun season for about ten days in Oct. I killed a few by busting up flocks and calling them back.

It is so true that the calling ratchets up a notch in the Fall. When flocks are squabbling it is a real calling education and can only be heard in the Fall.

Now we don't have a Fall archery or modern gun season because of low turkey populations. Maybe I will venture to another state.

I love the fall hunting!  It is a real challenge trying to bust a flock, calling them back is pretty easy most of the time and the turkey talk is great.

Yes tags are unlimited where I'm at in WI so I usually take out 3-5 every fall
