Curious to know how many snakes Ya'll encounter this past spring.
I came across 4. 1 was a 3 foot copperhead which I shot. 2 were king snakes and the last is unknown. I saw all of them on afternoon hunts.
The evening I shot the copperhead, I roosted birds not 150 yards and 5 minutes later from where I shot him. The birds appeared to not have been bothered at all by the shot.
Hunting Michigan the only snakes I ever see are Garters and the occasional Hog nose.
I usually dispatch 2 or 3 rattlers a year. This past spring I did not see a one!
Here in NY, I can honestly say I have never seen a snake while hunting. They don't bother me though, but I don't have to deal with the ones you guys down south do. Spiders on the other hand, I can't stand those things. :o
I didn't see any this year. Last year I saw one black snake and one large garter snake. They both lived.
It is rare to see a copperhead or rattlesnake in this part of West Virginia.
1 cottonmouth in MS, 1 rattlesnake in TX... may they rest in pieces
4 black racers, 1 mocassin, 1 rat snake. All survived.
Caught one corn snake for a friend. That was the only one I saw.

I did, but not like I had planned. A feral dog was in the area the next morning and I had to wait the birds out. Had 2 jakes and a 2 year old come in @ 945. Back to the truck by 10.
Saw 2. 1 mocassin that got away. And 1 unknown snake that scared the pants off me. It came slithering in right towards the spot I was sitting. It was about 6 feet long, fat, but fortunately had a squirrel or something in its stomach. I jumped up, threw sticks at it and it went down a hole. I moved to a different spot.

I love it when a plan comes together, even if you have to improvise.
NONE
None. I thought I'd see some in Florida, but thankfully not.
I hunted WV , Ohio ,and Kansas and didnt see a one . :happy0064:
I have seen one timber rattler in 23 years of spring gobbler hunting in Western Maryland. I remembwer that is was May 4, but don't remember the year. Probably 2000 or so. It is illegal to kill them here.
Seen like 7 cotton mouths 2 pigmys and 3 or so banded water snakes
I can't recall about this spring but I did kill 3 copperheads saturday weedeating next to the woodline.
None in my travels to WY, KS and NE.
Just two. The one I stepped on and the one I saw in the creek before I crossed it.
Both are still alive as far as I know.
I did make a rather funny noise as I realized I had just stepped on a snake's tail and was about to put my other foot on his head. :help:
I see several every year, 6-12 or so. I never have shot one, turkey shells are too exspenive, to many clubs (sticks) ( grolla warfare), if I was going to make a habbit shooting them I would carry some left over dove shells.
Opening day of the Indiana season, a buddy and I was setting in the blind we had set up the evening before. We had a 12" or so garder snake in the blind before daylight, it went across my boot laces. I heard the leaves or something, turned the flashlight on and there it was. Needless to say I woke up my buddy by flipping the blind over and yellin, well you know the rest of the story. I'll save face while I can LOL.
Hunted 3 days in North Carolina and saw 6 black snakes and 1 green snake. PA is my home state and I normally don't see any snakes in the spring.
no snakes while hunting but I did see one while fishing
