Title: Sad day....

Our dog Patch got down on Monday, so we carried her to the vet and found out her kidneys were going down. We told em to do what they could, but nothing worked.  We went ahead and decided to let her go this eve. Despite her pain, she held her head up for me to rub her ears til the end.

Man, that never gets easier.

RIP Patch, you'll never be forgotten.

I feel your pain. That is a hard thing to do, and it never gets any easier. Those darn dogs change our lives the second they come into them. What a blesssing it is to have a great dog..I am so sorry to hear about Patch. She is out of her pain and is chasing pheasants with my beloved Hershey as we speak. Its certainly the toughest thing we have to do as pet lovers.With time you will find that when you think of Patch you will smile uncontrolably rather than be sad uncontrolably.

Thanks guys!  It takes a pet lover to understand.

It used to not get to me so much when I had yard dogs and hunting dogs, but since we married we've had a bunch of lap dogs and I never would have thought I'd get so attached to them.Truly part of the family.

Every day you spend with your dog is a good day - until the last one.

On the whole it's a pretty good deal, even though it doesn't make the last day any easier. The only consolation is that in a while you'll have an opening for a new puppy that you can train even better than the last.

Some people say "they're just dogs" but they quickly become family.

I know the pain.  I had to do the same thing a few weeks ago.  You did the right thing
