looking to get something cool and special for my dad for fathers day hes a big box call guy
even a troff call? i dont know something cool.....give me some suggestions
Marlin Watkins fiddle box / Albert Paul
It might be more difficult to get a box call for a box call guy. Does he have a lot of them already? You might be better with something a little different for him.
If you're looking for "cool" the first thing I thought of was Dean Readbeard, Mad Hatter. Go check out his website, he has some 3 inch copper pots in awesome cocobolo wood and others too with different surfaces. Some are immediately available too. There's no way your dad won't think those are cool. Perfect gift if he doesn't have already.
It's not difficult to get one from Marlin, he just sent 8 sound files to another member on this forum and he just received his new fiddle box last week... But anything is possible with builders because every one is wanting calls before the season starts... supply and demand ... IMO
try looking at decoratives box calls...........
Also Preacherman just put some dark mineral poplar with snakewood calls on his website that look cool to me.
I would think that something appropriate would pop up in the call classified's if you pay attention and are quick at the draw.... ;D :icon_thumright:
My son gave me this call for Father's Day many years ago. The photo was taken in 2000 I think. You may have a photo of you and your dad that a call maker can use to make it special. This one was made by Dave Constantine. I killed a nice gobbler with it and then retired the call. Good luck.
Tough to beat that one!
I know it is not a box but the Ridgemont Legend slate pot call would be worth consideration . It has an engraving of a man and child carrying out a bird and the back of call has engraving thanks for the memory's . Comes with a corn cob striker . I made a display and included this call to two of my kids . Sells for less than 40 dollars , might be worth a look. My kids liked it also.
