I never win anything, but I'm always willing to donate for a cause. You all posting about our members winning awards led me to the NWTF call site and I thought what the heck, buy a a couple tickets. Dang I won the crazy thing.....

I really don't know. They only list one winner, I'm guessing that means all that are shown. The guy that called said I could pick up my prize at the convention or they would ship it. I am not there so I told them to ship my prize to me. I am supposed to get an e mail too. I'm thrilled either way. When I find out I will let you all know.
That's an awesome win !
Dang it congrats, I brought 5 tickets, that is a very nice lot of calls!!
Hey man congratulations.
There looks like some interesting calls in that group that could be used in the team travel call program :TooFunny:
Awesome, congrats!
SWEET CONGRATS
A big congrats sir! Your a GOAT so it doesn't surprise me at all that you won. Of course being a GOAT also means you could call up and kill a gobbler with nothing more than a wild cherry leaf.

It doesn't hurt to stack the odds though.
Congrats!!!
Congratulations sir, look forward to your review of the calls
You did good.
If you decide you don't want or need any of those please let me know, several of those I would really like to have, remember I ask first!!!

well Happy I have actually called in a gobbler using a leaf, don't know if it was a cherry leaf. I called one in with my voice alone, too.
I know there are call makers among us and if any of you donated any of these calls or know the call makers I want to say thank you from the depth of my soul. Please feel good that a true old turkey hunter is getting them and will treat them with the greatest of respect. I have hunted gobblers for 50 plus years in 9 states, I worked a career in Fish Management and helped in the off season on turkey trapping crews. I support conservation and have always tried to mentor new hunters, not only in how to kill a bird but to respect the animal and the great outdoors. I am no celebrity or big time spender, I'm just a common guy that appreciates his good fortune. Be assured turkeys will hear these calls.
Congrats on a mighty fine raffle win!
That's awesome! You should be pumped. Congrats!!

Very nice!!!!
Good for you, Dana! Couldn't have happened to a more deserving fellow. I'm sure that batch of calls is worth a pretty penny.
...I wonder what the odds were of winning that raffle? I would bet it was a real longshot! ...Congrats, my friend.
Thanks everyone.
Crow, you asked about putting a call in as another travel call....I will consider that so the team could share in my good fortune, we'll see.
Wow, you hit the lotto for sure! Can't imagine what the odds were. Congrats!

Congrats again, that is a fine group of calls to have.

I was thinking about the same thing. One of them would receive the call and say to them self "I don't remember buying this call." Then put with the rest of their collection. Then when asked about it, wouldn't remember receiving it and if the did remember wouldn't remember where they put it or what it looked like. ;D ;D ;D
Man that's Awesome!!! Congrats cause thats a fine line up of callers there!!
That's awesome bro , Z
Congratulations. Winning is so much more fun than buying. :blob10:
Score!

I think it went down with the boat!
We know where the travel call is and it's still in the cue for 2024. Team GOATS is honorable and on it.
You deserve it my friend, congrats!. It's nice to see someone we know win!!

Heard it was traded for a Waffle House breakfast so the broke old goat didn't have to wash dishes
Winner, Winner, Turkey dinner!!! Congrats, those look like some really good calls.
Well CRow if that's what it takes to keep the team in the woods, so be it.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day
YUp creme pies will only take you so far
Been anxiously awaiting my calls, so I reached out to the guy who called me. He said the 3rd party shipper that is handling the auction calls is shipping them and will be shipping them after the call auction closes tomorrow. Hopefully next week I get my hands on them.

Congrats Dana
WOW
Had a couple of my younger hunting buddies attend the S.E.W.E. event in Charleston S.C. the same weekend always as the Nationals. One borrowed a hundred dollars from the other, until he could get to an ATM, to buy a raffle ticket. The friend that lent the money didn't buy a ticket and laughed at the one who did. Well, Lady Luck smiled that day and our friend won the grand prize: Beretta Silver Pigeon O/U, Beretta A300 Automatic Shotgun, and a Yeti cooler. Made the ride back to N.C. pretty sweet!
Yipeee, the calls from the National elite call raffle just arrived. I been wondering when they would come. It turns out the USPS had them and didn't get them delivered. Our rural carrier just brought them they were in her car and she thought she should bring them after hours....duh yeah OMG. I can't keep from playing them, they are all great calls. I have never played trumpets, so I have a learning curve there as I think right now I would make a gobbler fall over laughing, but I will figure it out. I love the look of the Bent CReek wing bone (My wife has already claimed it). I especially like Ed Terefenko's box's sound, but I am telling you there are no losers in this bunch. It's not a matter of good or better, they are all absolutely great. It's more a matter of what I like to hear. Joe Slaton's owl call is the best I have ever heard outside of my own voice. I am going to donate a couple of these to the Clinton County Chapter NWTF to raise funds for their Handicapped/wounded warrior/youth hunt. My daughters each get a pick and my best two buddies each get one. So that leaves me 6 to play with.
Im really happy for you! I can tell how psyched you are, congratulations!!!
Man those are all Amazing! what is the wood combo on Ed's caller.
Here's the call makers:
Long Box - Twisting CReek Calls Jeff McKamey
Box Call - Ed Terefencko (mineral Poplar & Bloodwood)
glass call - Lonzo's Custom calls, Lou Trice
Slate Call - Tim Oldham
Trumpet - Andy Cobb #21
Trumpet - Seth Haman
Wing Bone - Bent Creek Wing Bones
Glass Call - Clay Townsend
Push Pin - MIke Lapp
Scratch Box (Small) - Scott Basehore
Scratch Box (long) - Scott Basehore
Owl Hooter - Joe Slaton
If any of you are on old gobbler Here is my thanks. I want you to know I am deeply moved winning these calls. My joy and appreciation is off the charts. They will be honored and used for good and hopefully kill a few turkeys. Outside of the ones I donate to the NWTF chapter I can assure you that they will be in the hands of people who will respect them and honor your hearts and craftsmanship. I myself have hunted Turkeys for 50 plus years and I worked a long career with Ohio DNR as a fish Hatchery manager and helped on the side with turkey projects. I ran a check station for 30 + years. My family has a 150 year history of conservation in farming, forest and wildlife management. Trust that your hard work fell into good hands.
Eggshell,
Hang on to that Lon Trice call, whatever you do. In my experience, he makes a darned good one. Congrats by the way. I am truly happy for you.
As always eggshell, NEVER disappoints us!!! Very dadgum impressive, you always do the right thing!!! We all need a friend like eggshell.

Christmas in March! Glad to see they all arrived safely. Awesome that you will share your good fortune with family, friends and your local NWTF. :z-winnersmiley:
I guess that's not too bad for an old GOAT huh Jeff.....thanks for the compliment. Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts
Congrats eggshell!!
It's awesome that you won and the fact that you are sharing your good fortune, plus "paying it forward" with your donations, shows that you were exactly the right person to win them.
Maybe I'll try and put together a sound file with the calls....
One of my buddies sat on the front porch with me yesterday morning and we played with all the calls. There were 4-5 gobblers gobbling up and down the valley. Last night I saw 3-4 birds go to roost behind the house. This morning there were 15 birds roosted about 150 yards from the house and they flew down right behind the house. I think they were looking for the flock they heard on my porch yesterday. I only heard one gobble in the bunch. Mostly all hens, maybe a jake or two. They're out scratching across from my dog kennel right now....fun to watch and listen. LOts of yelping goeing on.
Thats awesome, I also love living where I can just sit and watch/ listen to all these animals. Glad you are enjoying the calls.
Well my season is over. I filled one of two tags in Kentucky and my only tag in Ohio. Two decent longbeards and a lot of encounters. Been a frustrating season but fun.
I thought I would post an update on the calls I won and experiences hunting the ones I kept. I gave a trumpet to my daughter who played with it in South Dakota, I gave a pot call to one of my two best friends and The Seth Hamon yelper to my other turkey hunting partner. I gave the owl hooter to my wife's cousin. I donated the Mike Lapp push pin call and one of the Scott Bashore scratch boxes to a fund raiser for a wheeling sportsman hunt. Of the calls I kept I tried to hunt them all but I never took the Oldham slate because of so much rain. All the calls sounded great and birds answered them, but I had a hard time getting birds to come no matter what call I used. My two favorite sounding box calls were the Ed Terefenko short box and and the Scott Bashore small scratch box and I carried both several days. The sound out of the Scott Bashore scratch box was amazing for the tone and volume out of such a small call. I carried the Jeff Mckamey long box a few days and it had good sound, but It was very awkward to carry in my minimalist vest, so it got put back on the shelf shortly. The trice glass call I carried every day and used in combo with a mouth call and birds responded to it well. The last call I took hunting was the bent CReek wingbone, because I have never hunted a wingbone, but that will definitely change. I was demonstrating it to my daughter in my front yard (trying to coach her over the phone on her trumpet) when a gobbler answers out of my back woods. I rush to grab my gun and vest and head to the woods. Two more series on the wingbone and the gobbler was flopping in front of me....yup I will definitely hunt this call in the future. They are all great calls and I have enjoyed them all and have communicated with all the call makers. My appreciation for them has only grown. The only call I am a little unsure of is the McKamey long box, and it's not the sound that discourages me. It is just so dang big. That is one I may not keep just because of the difficulty carrying it. I will maybe see about getting a long box holster, but I don't need anymore gear attached to me. It has been a great experience winning these calls....I definitely will be buying some tickets next year. I promised a review, so here it is.
