Title: Fox Vest
Post by: capecodmike on January 23, 2024, 10:01:39 AM
Recently received my Fox vest on the second order.  Wondering if anyone hunted their's last spring and what the thoughts are.

I am looking forward to using it this spring to kick off the season in GA.  Hit me with a brief review if you've got time.  Thanks.

I got my fox vest on the limited/ extended run they did. I seem to like it a lot! Plenty of pockets for the minimalist turkey hunter to the bring everything you have turkey hunter... lol. Only flaw I noticed right off the bat is it's a tad heavy, the leather straps are a cool added feature but definitely add weight. Looking forward to running mine as well this spring.

Wish the striker pockets were a tad longer, seem to struggle getting the strikers I run to fit in those magnetic pockets. I know this isn't the answer to your question, but this is just what I noticed and my opinion.

It's heavy, but it's comfy. I got mine the first day of nwtf (I was 61 in line)

Not crazy about the buckle seat on the back but it's extremely thick and comfy.

I don't think it's "hot" I don't know how a strapped shoulder vest is hot to some people as previous reviews have stated.

I like the layout and the pockets but the striker pockets are tight. Kinda a burden if you use a bunch of different ones.

It's obviously a little stiff at first (mine still is) but I look for it to soften in time.

I'm a mossy oak gear nerd and I am glad I have it. It's a cool piece.

I am planning on combining a few vests and trying to make my own custom one and until I get that task complete I'll use the fox. It's a really well made cool item for my turkey hunting collection.

Thanks for responding.  I try the striker pockets in a day or two.  I haven't loaded it yet.

Best this season.  It will be here very soon.

I hunted with one a good bit last year. It is a bit heavy, but it's comfortable and well made from what I can tell. I did add leather on the straps where they loop around on the attachment points to the vest. I can see that breaking fairly easily. Also, I wish it had a little easier access to the back compartments. I always carried a turkey wing back there. Overall, it's one of the better vests I have owned. Considering the price, it had better be, though.

My Fox Vest is priceless, the wife and I camped out overnight in cold weather outside the Mossy Oak Store in Miss, it was a great time and I met so many people who I'm friends with now ...  Bucket List Experience ....

Outside striker pockets should have been made the same length as the middle one, and a little larger in diameter.
I missed having magnets in the seat so I sewed some in.
Like the vest overall. Well made and is comfortable.

Are striker pockets EVER long enough? What's up with that? And don't get me started on rare earth magnets, magnets open whenever they feel like it, buttons stay closed and they're quiet. I actually really like the look of the vest and would have bought one probably but weight is everything in boots and a vest. The price is the price, who cares, if it bothers you don't buy it. I looking forward to an ultralight Fox II vest with buttons and really long sticker pockets!  :toothy12:
