Title: Whites boots
Post by: Zugunruhe on January 17, 2024, 08:28:25 PM
I am thinking about custom building a boot from whites boots to the similar specs of the old Russell turkey hunter boots. Anyone ever had or heard about whites boots? Handmade boot company from Washington state.

Never heard of them, but you would thing someone from Washington would know how to make a waterproof boot.  Oh, and welome! :wagon:

Whites are very well known out west in the forestry and wildland firefighting community. For many years their Smokejumper boot was a standard with the fire crews. I have a pair that's 20 years old. Those are certainly not waterproof, nor insulated. Don't know about what other boots they make.

I think I can customize those smoke jumpers, build them out similar to Russel in height and design. I'm curious if that would make a good hunting boot.

It sounds to me like your hoping to use the smokejumper boot as a template to DIY yourself a pair of sake boots? Ooh..... if that's the case I'm extremely curious to see how this turns out. I'm not familiar with whites boots but I'm very intrigued at the thought of somebody making their own boots.

No you can call and custom order them. Change the height, add a zipper, etc. now that Russel isn't making the turkey hunter's im looking for an alternative. And Russell has poor customer service

That's even more intriguing. You've peaked my interest for sure. Hope it works out.

I currently have a pair of their hunting boots a 6/7" Owyhee.  I like the boots and am looking at their Loscha hunting boots.  I am not sure if they make the hunting boots.
