Yesterday Turkeybutt had Knee replacement surgery and everything went well with the surgery. Let's keep him in our prayers for a fast recovery.
Lord lay your healing hands on our brother Turkeybutt.
Amen
Praying for a fast and full recovery.
Prayers sent, get well my friend
I had a new knee March 27 and was turkey hunting end of April. Hopefully you will heal quickly!
Good luck
Thank you all for the thoughts, kind words and prayers. I really appreciate it.
Having my right one done Tuesday. Prayers.
Make sure you do the therapy bud. It really helps in the healing.
Get better soon !!! :funnyturkey:
Hey Turkey butt, prayers fro your healing and speedy recovery, hope your felling better.
Thanks Crow. This was a much needed replacement and if done correctly and I do my home exercises and take therapy seriously I might be able to run with the big dogs this Spring.

I know several people who have had knee replacements and all of them have said it has made all the difference in the world as to their mobility. The whole thing sounds scary as heck, but apparently the replacement surgery has been perfected to a degree that it must be pretty routine for us old guys that have worn our knees out. I have no doubt you will be running with the big dogs before too long! :icon_thumright: :D ;D
Both of my knees have been replaced, right 2008 and left 2011. The best advise I can give you is do your physical therapy. I was off crutches in three weeks, driving in a month with the right knee replacement. The worse part is the first couple of days and that was more because I was in the hospital. You will be running with the big dogs sooner than next spring. Good luck and good thoughts. If you have any questions about recovery I can relate my experience
Well, never thought I'd be praying for a Butt. However, in this case I pray the butt heals quickly  ;D
Thank you Eggshell
Gmed lets us know how you are making out with your surgery.
Best of luck, Butt !!
You, likely, got this done with perfect timing to get rehab'ed and test it out on some gobblers in the spring. :icon_thumright:
All the best for a quick and full recovery.
(The gobblers are praying otherwise)
i know several people that have gotten a new knee. They said the 1st week they thought it was the biggest mistake they had ever made. 3 weeks later and it was the best decision they made. Hoping for full recovery for you.
Thanks so much guys, I really appreciate all the thoughts, well wishes and prayers.
My wife says it's nice that I have Butties!
Glad to hear things went well, not something to look forward to I know, I have to have both of mine done so I feel for him. Recover quickly bud.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Look at it this way, at least you will get out of shoveling snow for awhile...if you get any there in your location. ;D

Thinking healing thoughts.
My father has had both knees replaced a couple of years apart, but he was slack on the rehab on the last one and is having issues. So, follow doctor's orders or prepare a long road to recovery.
Jim
Thanks Jim! I appreciate the advice.
Doing well, in fact better than expected at this stage according to my therapist.
Painful, a lot of swelling and sleeping most of my days away when not at therapy or doing exercises at home.
But in the end its got to be better than the quality of life I had before it was done.
I know Emed had his done Tues morning and he's now home recuperating so give him a shout-out or send him a PM.
Again thanks for everything guys! The OG family is the best!
Hope it works like it did when you were young. ????
Listen to the PT workers and the Doc, do your therapy and exercises and you will be whole again brother. Praying for a full recovery. Z
Thanks Z!
How is your recovery going?
Pretty good thanks for asking. It's been two weeks and my therapist said if she didn't know better she would think I had it done a month ago.
The key is to do the therapy exercises every chance you have while at home. That and a lot of ice!
You are 100% correct on the physical therapy, especially the home therapy. My doctor started me on PT the afternoon of the surgery and it continues for several months

Glad to hear you are doing well, keep up the good work. I have to look into the left one after this Spring turkey season and then the right one which will be a really big deal because of the rod in my leg in 2025 after turkey season.
I hope it all plays out well for you Steve. I got faith in you brother, you got grit and and a big heart which will help you to push through anything.
