They have you sign up for a $35 year membership to get in, but almost always have had a $25 Bass Pro Gift card to give you when you do so.
And there is a Bass Pro within walking distance.

If that ain't a money racket, then I don't know what is. One of several reasons why I will never go.
It's gotten that way. There was a time but not anymore. I spent all my time in the call room last year. A few call makers skipped last year, and that's the best part
It's a good place to see some of your call builder friends and maybe pickup a call or 2... I agree with tal the call room is a good place to spend your time ....I guess you could say money racket, but what an't anymore .... LOL... Nothing cheap anymore ....IMO
I've had more fun at one Unicoi show than the 20 years that I went to the NWTF conventions put together, and its free,
Just reserved our room and opened OG and here this thread pops up on top. Good timing.
I'll be the guy in the ballcap, say hi if you see me there. :TooFunny:
Will be going again. In general if you have a bad time in Nashville it's your own fault. Lots of friends and industry friends and gatherings usually make it a ball for us, and I'm looking forward to it again.
Just remember that when you're there check out the vendors. A lot of us are small businesses and when a 10x20 booth is $2300 and then we factor in the cost of goods, hotels, eats and expenses of having 3-4 staffers there it's important to have a good show.

I dont see how its a money racket. Is basically free to go to a great show with days worth of endless things to see. And you get the subscription. Its a no brainer and a great time.

Definitely worth the cost. The $10 net admission cost (after BassPro gift card) is the cheapest part of it all. But it's a fun trip and I'm looking forward to it.

I agree. It's well worth the $10 net admission price. (After the BassPro gift card). The contests, the exhibits and opportunity to see and shop it all is worth the trip. The people you meet are great but it's crowded so visiting is limited most of the time.

I'm all for that. I missed a couple of call makers last year when they separated the calls from the main convention floor and priced them out of a table. Like Massey said, it's all about the turkeys. I won't be signing up for Mongolian sheep hunts. Just talking with EZ, Hamon, Ellis, and others made it worth the trip. Gooserbat I'll make an effort to say hi.
I reserved the room but not sure if I can go. Bubba
To get in the show, do you buy a membership there or can they look up your names if you're already a member?

They can look you up. Having your card would be easiest tho.

I just got the email today for preregistration. I always do that to help save time. Sometimes the lines get pretty long for check in and if your preregistered it's quicker.

i think the cost is $50 now to enter the show,,

$35 if you pre register and on Feb. 14 it goes to $50 their website says.
Probably sit it out again this year for the 3rd year. Just didn't enjoy it enough the last I went to justify going back.

I've never been. If I pre register, how does it work when I get there? Do I just get in a different line?
Will also be headed that way. Just a 1 day trip.
You know, most of us will spend $20-$100 or more on a call, and what do you experience? A few days of hoping it works the way you want it and kill a bird.
For $10 net, I experience a 3 hr. trip with the guys and maybe wives, 3 to 4 hrs. of meeting like minded people who love the same sport as I do, support some great business, with great products that they have put their heart and sole into, so they can have a better life, and a great dinner after with a trip to Bass Pro. Money Racket??? Come on, that's kinda harsh.
I will be ordering more Gooserbat calls. I love the idea of tinkering with making your own mouth calls on-line, without being a call maker.

If you stay at the opryland hotel, isn't parking included?
Was just there this week and the signs said 45.00 if they park your car and 35.00 if you park yourself. 20 minute parking free. I stayed in town and the parking was 60.00 per day.
For 644 a night, over 2K for three nights "With fees" the Gaylord is too pricey for me. There are a lot of cheaper options but do your research. The Opryland Inn, which is waaayyyy cheaper, has a shuttle to the Gaylord. These are current/today prices. Maybe in February they are a lot cheaper
$644 a night?!?!? Wow. We stayed there a few years ago, I think it was about $250 a night then.
This year we booked a hotel a short distance away for about $120 per night I think.
I am going but I only live about 45 minutes to an hour north of Nashville on the TN/KY border. Luckily I don't have to pay with my military ID. I just go to pick up a few calls and strikers and maybe something random. I have never gone into any of the other events. Me and my buddy actually got a hotel room about ten miles from there pretty cheap. This way we can have some drinks while we are down there and.dont have to worry about driving back.
So do you guys take any type of immune system booster before going to the convention? I hear that covid runs rampant there.

I probably will take something before and when I go. That place is crowded and it's winter so odds are something will be passed around. I'll have to research what to take beforehand.
As a local who lives 20 minutes from Gaylord Opryland hope all y'all come and have a great time, spend
Lots of money but please go home and do not say to your family - we is moving' to Nashville. We love ya but don't want ya permanent like. We have the rating as the worst traffic in the country, crime is going up. Our little small towns - every piece of ground they can buy is being bulldozed and apartments galore going up or subs with postage stamp lots on Homes that start in mid to upper $300's and took 2 weeks to build Farm ground is selling for $50,000 an acre up. Local traffic is yuck
Better yet when you leave after the convention each of y'all round up 3-4 families apiece from CA, OR,IL, MI, NY, NJ and take 'em with ya. They all got plenty of money - let 'em drive up your real estate prices
And we'll just go back to quiet peaceful living.
Y'all come back now ya hear! For a short visit
I go about every 3rd or 4th year. Will be there this year.
If I was a thief, one place I would stay away from would be the NWTF Convention, the reason why, knowing most all hunters carry firearms ...

Michigan! How can they afford those 300+ thousand homes? I hate paying for your expensive hotels and all the rip off city taxes! I would never live in the Nashville area. May visit every 5 years for a couple days then head home to my quiet, rural, Michigan. There is know way I would pay that type of money for a home. The Nashville area needs zoning and population control.
I will be there... booth 3102
I'll have a ton of strikers and Buster Halford will be in my booth with a while lot of pot calls, and maybe some special new things!
