Title: Hey Florida fellers......... Fishin' question
Post by: Yoder409 on July 15, 2023, 09:11:54 PM
Head to Siesta Key in about a week. Never spent any time gulf side and have NO clue what (if anything) a guy might catch fishing in the surf.

Have to travel light. So thinking I'll take a 6 1/2 or 7 foot Ugly Stick and some 30-ish lb. braid on a 4000 series type spinning reel. What handful of artificials would one suggest ??

Thanks !!!

Still good reports of snook in the surf.  I fish just south of there out of Venice Inlet. I haven't been out for a while because of the heat.  White feathered jigs and curley tails as good as anything.  As you may already know beach snook hang very close to shore.Fun stuff. Expect a PM tomorrow.
Good luck.

I'm in the panhandle area.  Always have a gotcha lure, or a casting spoon.  Pompano jig and a bigger jig about 3 oz for jacks. Cobia. Tarpon   jig with curly tail grub, flounder will lay on the drop offs . Could be 2 feet in or a wash out.

You're welcome.  Any snook will be catch and release just so you know.  The gulf side regs are confusing and seem to change daily.
