What's the biggest difference in the 2 guns? I've seen complaints about stoeger is the trigger but you can get a mcarbo spring kit for cheap. I guess my question is more towards pattern wise being this would be a strictly turkey gun.
IMHO quite a bit. The Benelli will shoulder better, be lighter, in my experience work better as long as you keep it oiled correctly (same on the Stoger) and the Benelli has a much better fit and finish. The only nod I can give the stoger is Mobil chokes are easy to find. Now that said if it were me I'd go for a Franchi and never look back if I wanted a Benelli manufactured gun. You get a lot of gun for the money.
Price, which is reflected in the materials, machining ( tighter tolerances) and finish. I have a 3020 and a M300, both of which are serviceable and proven killers. I also have an SA-28 which is my primary gun right now. All that said, I just ordered a SBE3 28 gauge with a 26" barrel ( shortest I could get ) and am going to try an IC, Sumtoy and probably a Jebs choke to get the best performance out of it. Sorry for the ramble, lol. I would go with the m-2 with those choices. If they had a 28 m-2, I would probably be going with that. Z
I have a Franchi Affinity 3 and it patterns well but the fit and finish are poor. I will be ordering an SA20 Tactical Turkey for next year.
Benelli M2 all day. Fit and finish its the better gun. I have both and would definitely go Benelli... I also have the Franchi Affinity and it's a really good gun but I like the Benelli over it as well. Good luck with whatever one you choose.
I have both guns as well and prefer the M2 hands down ! To me the M2 has a much better feel however either one will do the job ! See which one fits and feels better to you then make your choice if possible.
IMO, the Stoeger just feels a little off. I cannot put my finger on it, but it just doesn't shoulder well TO ME...could be different with how your posture it.
The M2 is my current setup, but if I ever decided to get another, it would be the Franchi. I bought my son a Franchi youth 20 and that gun feels amazing. Some may think it is a little front heavy compared to the M2, but you get used to that.
My idea of a perfect turkey gun would be a Franchi Affinity Compact 28 with a 21" barrel...COULD YOU IMAGINE!!! :fud:
Franchi or M2 .... Either one are nice guns...
