Title: The Shaman Gets His Bird

It was coming down to the wire.  I'd hunted 16 days with no joy.  Finally, this morning, I picked up and went after a bird that was heading away from me off the property.  I was able to turn him and got a shot at 10 yards as he was coming through the barbed wire at me.

That's fantastic!. I'm still grinding it out myself.  I've hunted every day of our season so far except for 5. I'm still bird less and tomorrow is the last day. I know what you were feeling. Congrats!!.

Congratulations on spending a tag on a fine gobbler, shaman.  Respect for the dedication in getting it done!

Now, we only have another 11 months before we can do it again...I just realized your season is still in.  Ours (N.C.) ends today.

Thanks all!

If I'd been running at full steam, I could have probably gotten things done earlier. My Honey Hole is a 1/2 mile trek from the cabin along an abandoned road. I've taken both my tags there in the first week several times. I knew it was a good spot. The problem, I had to kind of overuse it. Normally, I'd give it a rest after a few days and head out to a different place if for no other reason that it being a change of view.

The gobblers were generally uncooperative this season out at this venue. Elsewhere on the farm, my 2 sons each got a gob. It seemed every morning, the gobs where I was situated would hop down and leave the area.
