Title: Sitka Field Review
Post by: Tom007 on May 02, 2023, 02:30:57 PM
I've had the opportunity to field test my Sitka vest. Here's my review. The Seat is way more comfortable than it looks. Even though it appears thinner, the foam holds shape and is actually comfortable. I've sat as long as 2 hours, no problem. Running and gunning, this vest is perfect. Comfortable shoulder straps and an easy to use and stow seat cushion. As for the lay-out, it is perfect for me. The box call pocket is large, very well padded and will hold a long box and also an Old Gobbler push pin with ease. The pot call pocket is perfect, well protected and easy access. There is a real nice striker pocket, flashlight pocket, and owl hooter pocket. A couple of zippered mesh pockets for head net, gloves and shells. And I almost forgot, a great mini binocular pocket that will also hold clippers in leu of Bino's. It has a nice backpack that has 2 zippered pockets, and you can slide a Turkey wing in the back pack outer sleeve. I would say this vest is in between a minimalist and standard vest, but don't let it fool you it carry's enough for most hunters (IMO). I give this vest 2 thumbs up, it definitely works for me, and is very adjustable and comfortable. Thx for listening, again everyone has different ideas on vests, I just wanted to share my experience with it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I have been on the fence about getting one of them.

Have a good one, Bo

What camo pattern did you choose?

This is my second year using the vest and I agree with everything you said. It's really amazing how comfortable that seat cushion/pad is. I would add that it holds up very well. Two years in and it still looks brand new.

I got the Waterfowl Timber Camo, not the Optifade SubAlpine. It blends real nice in the Hardwoods. I think it would work anywhere.

Agree, best vest for run n gun style. Protects and holds all calls silent. Highly adjustable esp for us smaller framed folks that swim in many vests.
