Title: Lakes

For those that hunt around big lakes, have you experienced turkeys liking to be close (few hundred yards) from the lake, or away from it?

Probably best just to go and listen. In reality they roost close and far. Terrain has a factor in it also.

Agree, turkeys have favorite roosting spots. I tell people all the time, if you don't cause problems in these roosting spots hens and gobblers will continue to use them year after year ... Older turkeys will bring younger turkeys to these same roosting areas.   Lake, water, creeks and field edges ... AS said you just have to go listen and scout ...

I live in the Finger Lakes Region of NY they roost all over the place, sometimes near sometimes nowhere near. Seem to like fields that pitch down I have noticed for landing but that is not always the case.
