After spending 4 days of rain, snow and sleet it finally cleared off for a frosty Michigan morning. Heard the first gobble in 5 days and after an hour and a half battle I was finally able to get him within 40 yards. The weather prediction was such that I had to set up a tent just to hunt those first 4 days. The gobbler circled out to the right in full strut while the hen he was with came straight out in front at 30 yards. At 55 yards he turned and walked straight toward the tent. The tent allowed me to move enough to get the gun out the right side window and when he cleared the final brushy area the SA-28 and Apex Ninja's did their job. 23.98 lbs on the digital scale with sharp 1" spurs, 9.5" beard.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230426/8b0d83e0b41e126e7d36f3df15d3397b.jpg)

Gracious what a heavy bird. Congrats!
Congrats on a fine gobbler! I hunt the late 234 MI. hunt because of the nasty early hunt weather!
Way to hang in there congratulations on a hard earned bird.

Congrats! Those hard fought battles are the best!
Congrats Mike on a really nice bird. Like others have said when you bust your butt for days & finally get the job done it just makes it sweeter.
I feel ya man. I am hunting just to your west and have been frustrated. Just started getting gobbles yesterday morning but man it was 22 degrees. Today was better at 25. Still beats rain and snow I guess. Last chance tomorrow.
