Title: Aluminum
Post by: Lone Star Eastern on April 19, 2023, 07:36:00 PM
Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of aluminum is used on pot calls? Can you just take whatever aluminum, say flattened coke can, and put that on a pot? I don't get friction on that, no matter what I try to condition it with.

Again, excuse me. I'm just wanting to tinker around.

Is stoned a sanding process, or something else?

I use a sand blasted, anodized aluminum. It sounds great and is preconditioned

You can order aluminum disc from.brooksidegamecalls or grassycreekcalls for around $3  The aluminum is much thicker than a coke can and in the diameter needed for a call. They even sell precut pots, soundboard, glass, slate ect. that you can assemble a pot call yourself.
