Title: Colorado
Post by: Hwd silvestris on April 09, 2023, 08:37:03 PM
Do any of you fellas know if turkeys exist in northern Rio blanco county and southern Routt county.    That would be a tad bit south of Craig Co. The elevation is around 8500 feet.
From what I can tell from online maps there is no sustainable turkey population in this particular area.  I'm not sure how accurate that info is.  Any thoughts from anyone would be much appreciated. That elevation may be too high and the snow may not melt in turkey season.  I don't have a clue as I've never been that far west lil long in mountains like that.  Not asking for anything other than a rundown on if  turkeys even exist in those high altitudes and if the government data is accurate.   Researching is a lil overwhelming.

Call the local biologist and ask specific detailed questions about the area you wish to hunt.

Good advice here, also I have gotten great leads from Colorado Parks and Wildlife CO's for mule deer and Elk. They are very helpful if you ask them.....good luck...
