What call company(s) would you consider the best quality, that are available retail or at big box stores?

Primos
Primos Ol' Betsy slate.
Best $15 you'll ever spend when it comes to turkey gear.
Primos and Lynch
When I bought retail I used to get Primos or Quaker Boy. I only got Quaker Boy because they were also in NY
Primos
Depends on the type of caller. For a box call I say primos, for pot calls Hunters Specialities.

Haven't tried the new Primos boxes, but the old ones are fine calls for sure....

The newest box call I bought from primos was the Tall Timber Gabriel back when it first came out. It's a fine call. I rarely carry a box but my custom boxes got put on the shelf when I got that one, it's that good.

I agree with Scott. The Primos Little Heartbreaker is my go to along with an HS Strut slate.

I always thought Woodhaven was leaps and bounds above everyone else, both in quality and price

for cheap if you bought a primos ol betsy, primos purple haze, a 777 striker and a couple of their mouth calls you'd be in business for $70 or so. Even cheaper if you look around
The striker that comes with purple haze is junk, toss it and use the 777 and its a whole different call
If you wanted to splurge a little, the hen sanity with frictionite could be played by anyone and comes with the upgraded striker already
for best quality at a big retailer I would think wood haven though
Primo's does a great job with their calls. I've hunted with a Cane Creek Pro Custom slate in the mahogany pot that's called a bunch of birds to the gun.
Primos or Woodhaven
My favorite retail box calls:
Primos HeartBreaker. Great cuts/yelps, and and Kee-kee... Does not pur great, but this particular call seems to drum up a gobble when nothing else will, and seems to be particularly irritating to hens. Mine is NOT for sale. ;D
Lynch World Champion... Darned good turkey call, and as good (or better) than any custom calls I have. Yelps/cutts/purs. I do have one that will not play on one side though? Should have sent it back when I got it, as I understand their customer service is good.
Pittman Game Calls (Preston's 2-Face) is a great call. My daughter took it over from me. Yelps, cutts, and really purrs well.
Diaphragms
WoodHaven (hands down the best retail diaphragm call for me)
Zink (distant second)
H.S. Stut (third choice). Love their diaphragm wallet though!
Primos
The Grind mouth calls.
So many to name
Cane creek
Appalachian
Gooserbat

Canebrake makes some really nice calls as well. I've got one of their glass calls and several diaphragms and like all of them.

I have an older primos heartbreaker and it sounds really nice. I met a guy one day walking in as I was walking out. I guess he heard my last ditch efforts to get a gobble as I made my way to the truck. He was surprised that it was Primos box. Granted it was my second season hunting turkey, so I had no idea what I was doing.
