Title: Travel Call
Post by: West Augusta on March 29, 2023, 08:34:51 AM
Well, Florida kicked my butt this year.  I'm home.  Who gets the travel call next?  I'll get it in the mail.

Are you sure this travel call isn't some kind of Trojan Horse from that evil genius "Where's Elmo1"
designed to sabotage us with ultra high frequency sound vibrations

I am certain. I held it in my hand and no warriors or banshees came out of it to scare the birds....a gobbler scoring 75 last fall will testify for it.

I'll talk crap, give you a bunch of it free of charge, but I could never intentionally put the whammy on a fellow turkey hunter. Now hoping you shoot a 47 point bird, I may do, lol.  :OGturkeyhead: Z

At this point, we should probably be making some sort of schedule for sending the call on to the next guy in line.  Of course, that should be based on when each of us will be hunting so someone doesn't end up being missed.

I will be hunting again starting on April 14th and will go through May 10th, so I have a fairly wide window in which to use the call.  I would suggest that team post up when they will be hunting so we can try to schedule the exchange of the call to fit everybody's hunting plans.

I suspect this is going to be a bit tricky to fit everybody in.... :) ;D

No problem eggo,
once a GOAT always a GOAT  :TooFunny:, thats my policy.
Just didn't want the 2 new fellers feeling left out seeing as how 50% of them have already done 50% of our work

Just put me on the backburner for the call. I know most of us have about the same window to use it and would prefere everyone else get their chance. There is no saying that we can't take two years to get it around to everyone.

As people decide when they want it I will modify this to show scheduled but I will not post dates. Kills will be posted if the hunter wants it posted.

I had offered to take care of that. For once, this isn't gobblenuts fault. Between new members and everyone hunting a lot of the same dates, it's just gonna take a while to get it passed around. It will have some miles on it and a lot of dead gobblers to its credit by the time it gets back to you. Thanks for the spreadsheet, Dana

I won't be hunting again until May (April 29), but Happy is right and it's gonna take awhile to pass it around.

Matter of fact....if it makes it easier, I will volunteer to use it to kick off the 2024 season next March in Florida!!  :TooFunny: :TooFunny:

"Where's Z Elmo1"s slate call helped to the job, used it on a morning roosted gobbler along with a trumpet to sound like a couple of hen's. It was thick in there and they went silent after fly down. switched to just the trumpet to keep hand movement to a minimal, Very nice sounding little slate call.

Thanks Zorro1

Let me know where to send it next

Crow needs to send the call to whoever is hunting in the next couple of weeks.  Assuming it takes a few days to arrive, someone hunting in the period of about May 5th through the 10th or thereabout should send him a message with delivery information.  If all was to go well, we might be able to sneak two or three of us in before the end of the season.

Personally, I may hunt May 13-15, so I could take it a few days before that.  We should get someone else (or two) the call before then.

I'm heading to the P.O.this afternoon to mail the travel trumpet.
If I don't hear any different I will also mail Zelmo's travel pot calls to Happy.
Let me know if somebody else wants it first.

Happy, I'll need your address

Yes it is,...and thank you, zelmo, for starting it off with your generosity!

As for the call, I am out for this spring.  My last hunting excursion would be over before the call arrives here, so if someone else is hunting later into May, please the group know so the call can be forwarded onward...   :icon_thumright:

I was trying hard to get that call involved in my  oys first gobbler. That and a cane yelper. We came close last weekend and hopefully can seal the deal this weekend. Regardless, I will ship it to the next guy in line sometime next week. Taunto is gonna be hunting pretty hard this month so unless someone else chimes in I will send it to him.

Any takers for the taking the travel call next? So far, Eggshell, West Augusta, Crow, and myself have had a run with it, and it has 3 birds notched. Though I don't think you signed it Crow
