I really have mixed feeling about what is happening with this stuff. Everyone has run to Mississippi and is buying it with absolutely zero plans to keep or use it. All they bought it for was to immediately put it on ebay to turn a quick profit. Ebay is being flooded right now with Fox Vests and Calls at ridiculous prices. I sincerely hope everyone that is doing this will never kill another gobbler.
i saw the box call ,, seller asking $600. the pot call call was $300,,,,,,,,,,,,
There is some of that happening but they sold 900 vest this morning and 400 at NWTF so the percentage is small that are doing that. I've got two riding home with me. I don't intend to sell either. I may trade one for the right thing eventually.
That being said it's hard for me to fault someone for driving however far they did and spend the night in the cold to make a nice chunk of change. It's the people that are paying that high price for something that isn't even sold out yet that blows my mind.
$5,000 for the $400 vest...
For every dummy doing that, there's another one buying the stuff at the price gouging rates. It sucks for the people that would actually like to buy the product to hunt with. Supply and demand I guess.

Capitalism. Same reason Mossy Oak has real estate, a tree nursery, golf course, food plot seeds, fishing stuff, etc.
Props to the folks doing the work to turn a profit. I hope they use the money towards turkey hunting and it helps them kill many gobblers.
If you want a vest but haven't been able to get one yet, don't worry. They are producing more so everyone who wants one can get one.
I was at West Point Mississippi and i can tell you A lot more people have NO plans of selling the vest, sure you have people who have no morals. But the majority will keep the vest... I just don't want the people who waited for over 24 hours and sleep in chairs in 37 deg. to NOT get a bad rap... Mossy Oak, when out of it's way for the turkey hunters last night putting out all kinds of heats and checking on people ,,, Thank you Mossy Oak for an awesome job and hospitality ... Around daylight they had around 1000 people ...

It all went for conservation .... OMG ....

X2, If I had the opportunity to get one, I would treasure, and keep it. I made a tragic mistake selling my Dixon vest years ago. The Fox vest looks even nicer than the Dixon. I have to hand it to Mossy Oak, they could have Massed produced both vests on a massive scale and scored. Kudos to them for keeping them both as tributes for the chosen people that were influential to their business......I commend their morals here......
And if you didn't know, they had around 100 employees plus others working around the clock helping everyone... Thank you Mossy Oak for GREAT EVENT
Im not faulting Mossy Oak nor the callmakers... I'm talking about the poor individuals standing in line all night to make a quick dollar.

You will have this pretty much go on with anything... But you can't fault Mossy Oak for what others do ....like i said those kinds of people have no morals ...
So now it is immoral to buy something and sell it for a profit?
I guess the fact I don't care about the vest then I don't care if someone sells it to a fool with extra cash to pay for it. If I got my hands on one I would sell it and fund some turkey tags!
I will share one other thing that happen at the Event ... Next to us was a high school freshman who had saved his money for one of the vests, an awesome young man, and we all took great care of him with food and blankets to stay warm etc... He was so proud of his new turkey hunting vest and in my opinion the look on his face was priceless as he received his vest... A Young turkey hunter, who listen to us tell stories and shared knowledge about turkey hunting.
The whole thing just has a weird feel to me. To each their own
I have never given a second thought to what a man does with his turkey vest, nor what another man does with his money.

Four of us got vests. 2 @ NWTF and 2 in Westpoint. None of us have any plans to sell our vests. We went to get something we would enjoy and share the fellowship at the event with other hunters. I also enjoyed meeting and talking turkey with some of the Mississippi call makers. That said, there were some people there that were obviously buying for resale. There is no way for Mossy Oak to police that behavior. I can also tell you that I spoke with some of the Haas family at the event. That's right. They were at the event talking turkey with everyone else. Not at home counting their money. They are both humbled and overwhelmed at the response to this vest. With all the negativity, my response is WHY. Why do you feel the need to dump on someone else's good time.

Because it's easier to be a keyboard warrior and talk crap when they didn't get to enjoy a great event. They don't appreciate being able to talk to people like Hunter Farrior, Toxey, Daniel, Neil, little fox... Not to mention the hundreds of other like minded individuals who don't have a platform till the wee hours of the morning. They don't care about talking all night with Mr. Brice from foxtrot unpacking a decade worth of wisdom and science behind turkey loads, patterns, and concepts. I used to go to that same event every year long before it was to release a limited edition vest for those exact experiences.
Once again...this post was never intended to knock Mossy Oak....they seem like genuine good ole boys. My problem is with the people that scooped up vest and calls and already have them on Ebay at outrageous prices...and idiots will pay it. Look at ebay...people have the post made and the items are in their truck seats. They posted them for sale as soon as they got to the truck. Probably had to borrow the money to buy the calls and vest in the first place.

On The Hunting Public's site it says that $30 of the purchase goes to the Mossy Oak Turkey stamp and Turkey Habitat improvements ($15/$15). It didn't mention it on the Tetherd site, but it's supposed to be the same. I bought mine through THP.

I was there and I can tell you that the Mossy Oak folks did a fine job with this event. I have new respect for those guys and gals. From Bill Suggs working his tail off to too the cashiers. I spent 2 nights there and every employee were very cordial. I had a blast and met and made new friends. I did get a vest and no intention of selling it. There were quite a few people who knew nothing of hunting or if Fox Haas was dead or alive. They openly said they were going to sell the vest. That is none of my business whether I agree with it or not.

Mossy Oak:
1) Leaves legacy to patriarch of family, a man of character, who lead conservation efforts to restore the wild turkey
2) Makes profit
Buyers of Vest:
1) Receives collectible vest
2) Receives quality vest to hunt
3) Happy to show appreciation to a company who represents their values
4) Could resell at substantial profit
Turkeys:
1) Conservation Efforts are funded with portion of proceeds.
Result: Capitalism. Both parties walk away satisfied, with a memorable experience of the camaraderie that took place during transaction

What do you think mossy oak did? They made a quick dollar off the labor of some kind in Asia who made those vests. Kudos to the guys who went down there and will turn a profit reselling them to another mossy oak fan boy.
Sat in line for 17 hours met new Turkey hunters and even though it was cold I had a great time. Never intend to sell my vest.

You should be able to log on to the website and buy vests on Monday. My understanding is they have a few numbered vests but mostly unnumbered vests left.
If I wore a vest enough to matter I would've considered buying one. But I only wear one a couple times a year so someone else should get it that would use it more than me.

If you spend as much time hunting as you do crying about this vest on every thread about it then I bet you're hard on them southern turkeys ????????
Ain't seen one on this site for sale, guess real turkey hunters who wanted one have no reason to sell it. Some of y'all are so weird about stuff tho good grief. Such weird behavior out of all these ultimate southern old school turkey hero's of yester year.
I understood the event was saturday. They evidently opened for business Friday nightsnd many vendors sold out of merchandise. Many of the vendors weren't there Saturday. Pretty disappointing unless you wanted a vest

Greg, I don't know where you were sitting but I went to get coffee this morning around 4 30 at the thrift shop. I saw a kid about 12 year old absolutely shivering! I felt so bad for that kid! Very underdressed. I had already given my buddy heater to a young man that was a student at Mississippi state because he was under dressed. I saw grown men sleeping in vehicles to stay warm but not that kid.

This young man had a small propane heater with him... I will agree with you, i saw several people way under dressed for the cold night ...
The lady in the Thrift Store was awesome and went out of her way to help everyone... She let people stay in the store and lay on the floor to stay warm... 3 coffee pots going all the time ... lifesaver in my opinion... all you had to do was make a donation ... She let people use her bathroom ...

I went today. Got there a little before 7:00. It was a great day! Got to buy a call, meet several OG members, hang out with a couple of people that I respect a lot, and enjoyed my time thoroughly. I would recommend anyone to go again next year, even if there's not a limited edition vest up for grabs. I didn't go for a vest...I went for the camaraderie, and it was well worth it.

Guess it is just going to be this way. Calls being re-sold. Call makers trying to take steps , some limiting who gets them to try to prevent huge profit reselling.
Now a turkey vest . Limited numbers or collectors editions. will drive the prices up an up.
While I have no interests in the vest ... I can't say much . I spent far more for a rare call I've been looking for , for years. And one day , when I'm old.... I'll probably sell my whole collection. Just the truth.
I could give a —— less what anyone else does with there vest . They paid there 450 . This means it's there possession to do what they want ! If I could have gotten one ? I had intended to get one myself . But decided to break 3 bones in the last 6 weeks . To many new dr bills to justify buying a vest now .... Maybe get one down the road someday ...
No difference in buying that vest to resell than someone buying a trumpet from Billy Buice, throwing it on Ebay and doubling or tripling their money.
Same with a lot of call makers. See if you can get someone to sell a KP, Cox or Prudhomme trumpet for what they paid for it. Not going to happen.
Same with the Cody calls last year when folks went ballistic over calls that are not even limited.
Have you ever seen a Dixon vest sold for the original cost?

Sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sure he was a fine man and great father. God bless.......

Not my thing. Last time I stood in line over 10 minutes was for tickets to ET back in 1982. That was worth it, not sure about for a turkey vest.

History has a way of paving a road, just like what the Fox Vest stands for in symbolizing what is the true meaning of giving back for generations to come. All of this started back in 1944 with Mr Fox killing his first turkey with model 12. So with all the great history that the vest stands for and conservation. The prototype vest was referred to as the traveling vest, as it was used in Mississippi and ended in May in New England. During it's travels the vest was used by family and close friends. The vest ended its journey with Mr Fox 3 grandsons killing turkeys in New England using Mr Fox Winchester model 12. So this vest will now become a part of making your own hunting stories if you are fortunate to receive one of these to carry on a great legacy for years to come. From Mr Fox : The Good That Men Do Will Live Long After Theyre Gone.
So again everyone has opinions, but history and memories will live forever. I Feel Mr Fox's legacy and history is worth preserving alone with what was done years ago with the Dixon Vest. So regardless history will stand the test of time. So if you have one of the Vest you have the opportunity to share in all of its history and create your own history and memories.
Marketing genius.

Times are tough economically and the tea leaves predict it getting worse. People are desperate these days, so I can't fault anyone for turning profit on a sewn together piece of manufactured scarcity.

Let me share another story with you, next to us was a couple who were on their honeymoon and less than 5 days married and drove from Florida, because he wanted to be a part of the Event and his new wife didn't have a clue what she was getting into with coming to the Event and she enjoyed all it had to offer and more and she braved the cold right alone his side.. WHAT MEMORIES .. and as he got his Vest , she could have got one but she didn't ... Just some more stories I'm sharing of the Passion others have for turkey hunting. She did say, after all of this she had a better understanding. Others told her it was just the beginning of what was to come ... LOL..

Anyone know when the vests go on sale online tomorrow?
Houndstooth just sent the follow email out. Hopefully, this will kill the secondary market for that call.
????UPDATE on the Mr. Fox Call
UPDATE on the Mr. Fox Call, we are releasing the call Online to the public today.
After attending the Mossy Oak Official Fox Vest release in West Point and releasing our Mr. Fox Cherry call there first, they sold out way quicker than we had ever expected, the first hour and a half, to be exact. The event surpassed everyone's expectations which was an awesome thing to not only witness but for all the right reasons.
So we plan on releasing batches of the Mr. Fox Call throughout the Spring so we can try to make sure that we satisfy the vest owners that want them to complete their vests.
Tonight at 7 pm CST, we will release the next batch of the Mr. Fox Calls, so stay tuned on our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/hound... for the announcement with the link to buy.
Each customer will be allowed 1 per order; we apologize for the inconvenience but Thank You for your understanding and continued support! ????????

He's the "What dem hooks gon be baw" guy. He sells annual shirts that promote trespassing such as "Can't Stop the Hop, 2023 Fence Crossing Tour". And he says dumb things like "It ain't rocket science, I'm coming for your birds baw, and come at me rejects."
He's currently under investigation for trespassing, poaching, and over harvesting but claiming he's totally innocent and his alter-ego is purely for comedy. He's like an outlaw version of Rut Daniels, but they're both kinda dumb. You might not know who Rut is either, so it might be a bad reference.
Satire is kind of hopeless and in todays world, gets you in trouble because of the literacy rate of the American public. The DNR had Carl Ray on their radar. Gave him a ticket when he was duck hunting. The officer didn't show up to court so he said something rude about the officers wife.

Thank you for sharing this. I was getting depressed by the thread up until I read it.
They look like nice vests, but at the end of the day it's a fabric vest with pockets. I don't think I would pay even the $450 retail price...
So he took up the time of game wardens who could actually be busting real poachers for some gag skit online?
Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
And they will convict him. All they have to do is read the article above. He said that he was "frustrated or aggravated by the whole deal." So then he made the video when he got home. Where he threatened/talking about the game warden. Now he says, "I was just joking" So now he's selling more T-shirts to help pay for his lawyer. He did this to himself. They're probably going to catch him turkey hunting, because ain't no way he ain't going.
Have a good one, Bo

If you never heard of him you're lucky. If you believe the "it's an act. It's just for grins" story you're a fool. What you see is actually what you get. There aw even done who argue that he's a victim but the DA, Jones county law enforcement, and even fed have been building this case against him for years. The arresting charge is just the tip of the iceberg.
To be clear ... I'm not a fan of ole Carl Ray . I don't even have face book . Friends send me some of his antics through text from time to time . He is entertaining, I guess that's what he is after ? Appears to me he has to much time on his hands and feels the need to be famous though saying ridiculous/ obnoxious things about turkey killing . I trust no man who just throws dead game around like he does ! I'm not sure if he is just making all his crap up ? Or is he just that bold ? Either way ,, just another ego driven face book hero !

What's crazy is that Turkey hunters are being called crazy, naive, stupid, dumb and other things by other Turkey hunters because they decided to buy something that they wanted. Whether they decide to use it or resale it. It ain't up to me to tell another grown man how to spend his own money.

If she had taken the Vest, you would have complained she got it to make a profit, some you will never understand the meaning of why she didn't take a Vest. In her doing this another person was able to receive a Vest.. And no she's not crazy. But some of these replies are pretty crazy and i'm embarrassed for the forum and by some of the comments.
My 13yr old son was hanging out in the thrift shop around that time, but he was wearing insulated bibs and a jacket. He was still freezing though.
The girl should have bought a vest. Her standing there all night to not buy one is absurd.

This right here^^^^.
Hunters have enough people/groups attacking them/us.....we don't need to be attacking ourselves!
Ms Jessi Cole interviewed Toxey on the mossy oak website in an article about his father and the vest. My last comment to all the weird behavior I have seen on here is this, go read that interview. If it doesn't remind you of your grandpa/mentor or make you proud to support that company and what those guys stand for then I have nothing more to say.
You either get it or you don't.
I've always been a mossy oak guy. I've worn it almost exclusively for years. And i wear something in mossy oak about everyday of my life. I've been 100+ miles offshore in a boat wrapped in mossy oak. I've been to the store in Mississippi. I watched hunting the country and all the early stuff. Watched the launch of mossy oak properties, biologic, gamekeepers, mossy oak fishing, mossy oak golf, mossy oak retrievers etc etc. they are experts at marketing and promoting. And have built an empire. The Dixon vest was very nice when it came out....it blew up with the help of social media down the road. Now the fox vest is building off the same desire for people to have something exclusive that few others have. And nothing wrong with that. To each their own. But at the end of the day it's a turkey vest no better or worse than hundreds of others. I understand that many went to great lengths to procure it and that fine but because we don't all feel the same about having a exclusive turkey vest doesn't make us "not get it" or "not understand what it's all about". What it's all about for myself is hunting turkeys .....and I get that. Cheers

We share similar thoughts.
My whole issue with the vest is not that it costs $450 (we live in a Capitalist society and if folks are willing to pay $450 then they can knock the my selves out).
My issue is the general public's perception of what the vest signifies.
I've seen several comments online that are along the lines of
"Mr Fox is the reason we have turkeys in East Mississippi today, his actions conserved the turkeys for generations to come"
"Fox is a turkey god amongst mortal men"
"If you don't understand the significance of the turkey vest your not a real turkey hunter".
No one knew what to think of Fox until mossy oak told them what to think, now he is being made out as some martyr for the turkey and America's greatest conservationist. Mossy Oak has a phenomenal marketing and community engagement team, no doubt about that.
I'm sure the vest is a nice vest made of high quality material, but don't fool yourself talking about what the vest means.
If someone wants to make a commemorative vest to honor a true conservationist how about we make vests in the name of
-Aldo Leopold
-Gifford Pinchot
-Theodore Roosevelt
-the tens of thousands of unnamed wildlife biologists, state and federal game agency employees, land managers, and so on.
-Hell even Joe Biden and his "30 by 30" initiative makes me think of him as a conservationist.
Point being, No one ever thought much of Fox Haas until Mossy Oak told you to do so. Not knocking Fox personally, I'm sure he's like everyone else's grandpa was. But don't act like this vest is anymore than 1) a vest commemorating someone's grandpa (That's right, would you buy a vest in honor of TR69'S grandpa? Probably not. Because I don't own the most well known camo company in the southeast) 2) A huge money grab by mossy oak.
Why do people care how another man spends his money. get out of the gossip corner

To each his own. I have done some guided hunts for birds. Not cheap and enjoyed the hunts. Then :funnyturkey: I have had friends ask how much for the trip. ---- then they would flip that much for a turkey hunt. Now if they ask, not all I tell them if you intend going look it up!
How long till they release the Cuz Strickland vest? I say 5 years or less.

Well, I just ordered one online but like a dummy I accidentally highlighted the unnumbered one instead of the numbered version. They still had both when I checked out. Prob for the best because if I got the limited one I'd prob not hunt it as much. Since I just got the regular one it's gonna go on every hunt from now on.
I only bought it because it does look like a great vest. It's pretty much the layout I'd draw up. The more I look at it the more I like it.

Pretty much nailed my way of thinking about it. Only thing I disagree with is that it is a money grab. It is just a corporation doing what a corporation does, improving the bottom line. No skin off my teeth.
The eBay prices are mostly not bid on or not yet purchased. But if you think about it, let's say I wanted one of those vests and not the experience of getting it (which would be cool, but let's just assume I only want a vest) In order to have gone and stood in that line, I would have to take day or two off work, carry my camper or stay in a motel, to try to purchase said vest with no guarantee I would get one. Instead, I pay the extra $800 to stay at work, save my time and make more money at work or do something else I would rather be doing. I get that and don't think that is too crazy of a number. I would not have traveled and stood in that line to make $800. I just don't get that it is a big deal either way. Scalping has been around forever-they probably scalped box seats to watch some gladiator get eaten by lions in Rome.
As the guy said above it is a false demand that makes people lose their minds (like Beanie Babies )
agreed, the layout is about perfect for me. been running a limbhanger since they came out and even have a spare new one waiting in reserve. the Mr fox vest is the best layout on the market right now for me, because it is similar to the limbhanger outside but the inside pockets are laid out better. agree that it would have been nice to make it in the USA...even if the cost would have been higher...

I got on at 4:14 and the numbered was X out. Got unnumbered and dang happy too. Can't wait to fill it up and run some miles with it.

Yeah, I'm kind of excited to try it out too. I don't really like any vest I've ever used but this one might be ok.

I'm very happy with the purchase. There is one caveat. Idk where you hunt but this vest is too thick to hunt South Alabama late in the season. I'll probably wear it a couple times a year then switch to my alps grand slam.

I don't really care about the prices. But all this dog and pony show about how much support they're getting and blah blah blah... who would have thought that if you take time to produce a quality product in America after decades of Chinese bs that people would be excited about it?

You're kidding....
On the website they had pictures with a lady putting one together... I just assumed they were making it domestic.

Nope. Made in Myanmar.
But I mentioned somewhere else, after working in American textile manufacturing for the last 9 months... I'd rather buy something made overseas. American manufacturing isn't what it used to be.

I feel like for what they charge, an American sewing house could be sourced to make the vest. For "how to make in America" Call up Kifaru, the Hill People Gear or one of many companies that produce Berry compliant packs and gear for hunters.
I hadn't been paying attention to this Mr Fox vest stuff, so I just went out to Ebay to take a look. And WOW! I will make some popcorn and watch this fun from afar. LOL!
