I've heard that back in the early days of smartphone pics being posted to forums that folks were able to download the photo and look at its raw file to see the coordinates it was taken from. I don't know if that's still possible.
But even if you're texting a kill pic to a buddy, who then might send it to another buddy, and so on...
I might suggest to turning off the geotagging capability on your phone's camera. Because if 'on', it's not too hard to find out precisely where a photo was taken. Just google "turn off geotag on iPhone camera" (or android or whatever).

Opening morning in Warren County, Flowers, Mississippi 3-15-2023.
I had 3-4 gobbling at first light (7:05am) and this one came in in a shorter length of time than it took me to initially set up. It was 36 degrees.

A very solid weekend proving time in the woods is the most important killer trait. A terrible weather Saturday but we kept at it and killed about 30 minutes before a huge rain storm at about 10:30
Today we struck out this morning but I went at it again and killed at 3pm on a silent afternoon gobbler. He walked a little too loud in the leaves and that's likely what killed him.
Both birds came in silent and we only heard them walking in to get ready.

With tons of rain, wind and some severe weather in the forecast for this opener and some hard hunted ground I wasn't expecting much questioning my sanity at times. Fortunately the Lord blessed my determination and I found myself all alone mid day in a prime area. All alone with a few strutters that were willing.

I killed this one at my place in NW Oklahoma this evening. He had 6.5" beard, 7/8 and 1" spurs, and weighed 27 lbs. I was using my combo gun with handloaded ammo with 1 1/4 oz #6 shot at 8 yards.

Second hunt, called in a struttin' hen... She came in behind me, and I just caught a glimps of the fan... Trying to figure out how to get a shot, when I realized it was a hen. She came within feet of me and put on a show for about an hour; was sure a tom would come to investigate, but it never happened.

Later that same day (after burning some rubber on my soles), I called in another hen, that brought in a hesitant tom... Hen stood on a rock and yammered with me for 20 minutes or so, before this guy came in for some lovin'. Not great photos, but these are actually nice spurs for a California bird (the spurs often get broken off on the rocks).

Last bird made me work for him... Worked a couple jakes for over an hour (before I realized they were jakes), let them be and did some hiking, and then worked another jake for a painfully long time, that ended up pulling in a tom for a fight. I was holding on a jake for the better part of an hour at about 60 yards... My face itching, and a bug landed on my neck, and that jake would not budge (I thought he was a tom from my vantage point). I hear another bird gobble, and approaching, and after a short confrontation, he chased the jake to me, following close behind. Tough for me to remember being so happy at killing a bird... Not the biggest/best bird of the season, but it was the most rewarding!

All of these birds were killed after 11:30 AM. It was a short, but interesting season, of the likes of which I will probably not see again.
Could not hunt the opener, and went for an afternoon hunt the second day, with quick results!

Been a rough year in my neck of the woods. Numbers are down and birds would not gobble, well they gobbled good from the end of January to the middle of March. I did manage to take a couple of two year olds, including my first
bird with a yelper. Our season closed yesterday and Sunday was my last day to get to hunt. I had a chance to punch my last tag, but I whiffed at 16 steps on an old warrior I had been hunting for the last 4 weeks. I only heard him gobble a total of 3 times this year and he didn't gobble at all Sunday. Made me sick and the worst part is having to think about what went wrong for the next 10.5 months. Good luck to everyone still hunting.

I've heard that back in the early days of smartphone pics being posted to forums that folks were able to download the photo and look at its raw file to see the coordinates it was taken from. I don't know if that's still possible.
But even if you're texting a kill pic to a buddy, who then might send it to another buddy, and so on...
I might suggest to turning off the geotagging capability on your phone's camera. Because if 'on', it's not too hard to find out precisely where a photo was taken. Just google "turn off geotag on iPhone camera" (or android or whatever).

Hunted some of my childhood stomping grounds in TN with my father. We relived many great memories and we're both able to tag a gobbler.

Tagged out in NY with my 45# double carbon Omega Native in the same spot. 150 grain Snuffers with 510 total arrow weight, 5-6 yard shots and both down quickly in sight. Now working in Alaska for 5 months, gave me time to prepare for the trip.
