Title: 10 year old allstars!
Post by: chatterbox on June 23, 2011, 07:56:22 PM
I just want to give a big shout out to my boy Harrison.
Harrison made his 10 year old allstar baseball team, and they have their first game tommorow against rival Gilford!
The boys all look pretty sharp, and I think they have a chance to have a really good tournament!

Congrats and good luck Harrison.  Give it your all and and hold your head high, except in the batters box.

Well, the boys are 1-1 in tornament play. Lost the first one 11-6, and won the second one by the same score!
Harrison isn't a starter, but his coach is making sure he's getting playing time in right field. He struck out twice, and walked once, stealing home on an errant throw to 3rd!
He's a lefty, and because he get's pitched tight inside so much, he's developed a case of "happy feet". I think it's always been there, but when he moves into the 11-12 y/o division, he has got to be able to hit. Not gonna be easy to fix, but I know it can be done. He's a smart kid, and I think some lessons with a good coach can fix this.

The cure for happy feet back in the day was a garbage can, but you need a reliable pitcher or else the batter is a sitting duck.  Come to think of it we used a garbage can in several drills.
