The one I have from him is priceless. My only regret is that I'd met him many years ago.

Right now they will not go for what most would think. Having said that I am always interested in a Stowe.

Disagree,
How much would you pay for a Snakewood over Ivory mouthpiece from Stowe.
Only two are known to exist.

Just my thought on the subject.

thanks.

I miss the days when it wasn't about how much money a guy could make, but about turkey hunting and sharing it with like minded individuals

Seems to be, rightfully so, the emotional factor is baked into the market value right now, which could settle out in time. In other words, a seller's market.   :z-twocents:

The old school great guys are disappearing. What it's worth ? Probably what someone will pay. It's not worth a thousand. But probably more than you paid. Depends on mouthpiece and woods. I will miss him

Lewis was all about trying to make you happy. He loved taking videos of him running the call so you could decide yes or no.  Not many would do that because most can't run a trumpet instrument. It's a instrument that takes practice but is the most rewarding when you figure it out.  Love trumpets. Yes I'm no master and still learning. That's the addiction. It's hard. Killing birds with. Whatever you know is a lot easier. In the end you are looking for a harder kill that gives satisfaction.  For me when I kill one. Gee it's over. A high and a low at the same time. I prefer the hunt over the the kill. But I'm im old school and have killed my share.  Nothing like chasing gobblers in the spring woods.  Good luck everyone

So are we talking about the rule, or the exceptions to the rule? There is a big difference.

The price of an object is subject to change with the fluctuating market, that all I was stating.

Thanks for contributing to this post.

Preach!

Have you attempted to lease any land for hunting?

It is out of my reach financially. Just added to the mix.

Thanks

In my area it will set you back five or six high quality trumpet calls a year.

Just trying to a make a comparison on the value of an object or fee we have all paid at one time or another.

thanks again.

Just points to consider:

What Lewis Stowe calls that are out there is all there will ever be. And while he was quality enough of a callmaker to defy regular rules of economics like some other makers, he simply didn't make near the numbers as those other makers. In other words his calls would hold the same value if he had made 5K more of them, but he didnt, they're even more rare than some might think if talking about yelpers.

His quality is top shelf, his calls play as easy as anyone's and generate easy rasp even with a novice caller.  His craftsmanship is first class, he was a machinist. However, he made calls of different lengths and mouthpieces different thicknesses. All the while a machinist could have made them identical, he chose to make them unique.  Not to mention his slate call innovation and being copied by the monster companies of the day, his reputation as a callmaker is as strong as anyone's.

He's a 2-time World Champion Caller, legendary callmaker, and a killer, a Peterbilt couldn't pull the gobblers he killed.

He's one of the finest Christians I've ever known, someone spoken highly by everyone not out of courtesy for the recently deceased, but from sincere respect and admiration and genuine friendship.  The kind of man that makes you want to be a better man.  A lot comes with a "Stowe call" and they're valuable for a reason

If easy rasp can be generated, even from a novice, I would take no less than $2000, especially in todays market ;) Sounds like this may be that "magical yelper".

You all are funny. He was old school Lewis Stowe and just a great person. I was just watching him on YouTube which brought me back over here. Ppl like that are a dying breed. He tried hard to make sure you were happy with your purchase.  I have a few and my favorite. He did make a easy running call.  Never got a bad one from him.
