Just a shout out to the Killer B's. Keep me in mind when the contest sign up rolls around. I usually am good for at least one bird each spring. Got 4 nice longbeards showing up regularly on my farm in Cherokee County SC. About time to drop the first one down there !

There's a contest. Again, it's been 13 plus years since I've been here. Anyone want to explain for us newbies (or in my case can't remember from that far back if there was even such a thing then)?

I want to make a comment before I fly up for the night.   I went back and looked at the Killer Bee's kill thread from last year.   Y'all really should consider a name change.    Most of your birds weren't any bigger than a bee.   So I propose y'all change your names to Bee Killers. Should be an easy fix on your team jackets.  Cut and tape.

It's starting to remind me of watching a bunch of young bucks running around pre-rut. A lot of snorting and rubbing going on. Impatient and trying to impress the ladies. Us old GOATS know that the main key to success is just showing up at the right time. Well rested and ready to go. Not burnt out and disoriented.

Thread reminds me of the movie Grumpy old men and the movie Grumpier old men. Both of which are awesome and make me laugh. At least you guys aren't swinging, bashing, skinning, cutting, warming, basting, slicing, seasoning any sausage yet. Expecting it to soon come.

Us GOATS can carry on all night.  We have to get up every two hours and go to the bathroom, and we're all on a different schedule.

I guess the nurses forgot to medicate the Grumpies (amber heard) again, someone please send notice to the old age home. We let everyone off easy last year, being are first full year in contest, so fair warning we will be winnig this year :z-winnersmiley:

Last year's contest, JUST between the G.O.U.T.S.  and the Killer B's.......... 24 contestants entered 21 longbeards...........

Look at the nationwide spring turkey combined success ratio.  It's around 20%.  That's freakin' NUTS !!!!!!!

The 90/10 theory seems to come into play, at least in that analysis.

My above numbers were also only the birds REGISTERED........   Lots of the same guys are killing 2 or 3 or 5 birds each spring.

Gosh, I just woke up from my winter nap and found this crap show. I thought it was winter wind I heard blowing, but it turns out it was a mass swarm of wanna-bees. I'm going back to my sugar shack and boil some more Maple sap. It's good practice for bringing the heat.

Oh yeah, I am exercising my option to score my fall gobbler for the 2023 contest. It was killed after the official end of the last contest and during, what Ohio DNR calls, the 2022-2023 license year. By the way it scores 75.5 points (~19 lb, 13.25" beard and 1.5" spurs) . So that makes the current score G.O.A.T.S 75.5, everyone else zero.....
