Title: Please Remember Fallen Firefighter Corey Shaw
Post by: allaboutshooting on June 20, 2011, 12:16:59 PM
Our Southern Illinois community suffered a tragedy this past weekend. A young man Corey Shaw, only 22, and a volunteer fireman, was killed while trying to extinguish a very large fire on the square of a neighboring town.

That fire destroyed 2 historic buildings but more importantly it took the life of a good man who was doing what he thought was right by serving his community. He leaves behind a grieving family, his wife and a young daughter.

Please keep his family in your prayers this week.

Clark

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. This was a terrible loss that is felt throughout the entire Southern Illinois Community.

This is a large area, geographically but we don't really have a lot of people living here. When something like this happens, we feel it.

Thanks again,
Clark

Its always sad to hear of a firefighter being burned or making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. :(
Down here in Florida we just lost 2 Division of Forestry firefighters who got burned over at a brush fire. Prayers are sent from a fellow firefighter. :firefighter: :cross2:

Rest In Peace Brother

The Firefighter's Prayer

When I'm called to duty God
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.

Gone But Never Forgotten,
Prayers sent from Huntland 525
