I'd never been there. Always heard it was a good show and a good time. But north Georgia is a pretty good hoof from west-central Pennsylvania. In a last-minute decision.......and with an INCREDIBLY generous offer from a fellow OG Forums member who became an instant friend...... I headed out at 2:15 AM Thursday to see what it was all about.
In a nutshell............ Unicoi is NOT a good show. It is NOT a good time. It is by far and away THE SINGLE BEST SHOW THAT A TURKEY HUNTER WILL EVER ATTEND !!!!!!!!!
I walked into this show having only met 5 of the other attendees before. And of those...... 4 were only brief visits. Yet, as a new guy and a strange face to virtually everyone, it was welcomed by everyone. Everyone makes eye contact. Everyone says "Good morning !! How you doin' today ??" Everyone has a smile for everyone else. The Unicoi crowd is the best bunch of people you could assemble in one place.
The show floor is the biggest collection of off-the-wall call making talent ever assembled in one place !!! You not only have the opportunity to play and/or purchase the finest calls available anywhere. But you get the chance to spend time talking to the craftsmen that created them.
Mark Sharpe and Russell Beard have truly put together THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH if you are a turkey hunter. I told a lot of folks in parting that I would not likely be back next year. But I would DEFINITELY be back. Well................. I've only been home a little over 24 hours. Changed my mind , already !!! Lord, willing........ I'll be headed out to north Georgia at 2:15 AM January 11, 2024.
Yinz gotta see this show !!!!!!!!!!! Whatever you've heard about it.......it's even better than that !!!

You are correct Yoder in everything you have said. The Good Lord knows that I don't need any more turkey calls but I just can't help myself. It's an addiction I'm telling you that I need a turkey call fix to start the year off.
