Title: Gluing Buffalo horn
Post by: tap.emtp on October 23, 2022, 08:25:01 AM
Had some gluing failures on buff horn lately. I have been using Bob Smith Technology 30 min slow cure epoxy. Anyone know why failures only on buff horn? And anyone care to share what they use? Thanks

Gorilla glue messy but it will hold.

Bob Smith products are usually high quality, makes me wonder about the horn prep. BH glues easy, so this is strange. BH is very porous, are you "filling/sealing" it first with CA? Wondering if your glue is seeping into the horn and not providing a good 2-piece glue connection?
Is it cleaned before gluing?

Thanks guys. Greg are you saying I need to seal with ca before gluing?

Thanks
Good luck....I seal BH anyway due to the porousness of it, hopefully it helps you out.
