Me and a couple of buddies are doing the grand slam and up next is the Rio's. If anyone can recommend a outfitter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
If you don't get any recommendations, a good place to start is by contacting the state wildlife agencies for information and/or the leadership of the state NWTF chapters. Also, if you are wanting to actually kill a true Rio Grande gobbler, stick to the historic range of the subspecies. Mid to west Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas are good places to start looking. :icon_thumright:
Thanks . I actually called biologist from all 3 states mentioned. I found Y bar ranch in texas and another was called No Cull outfitters. Both in texas , a guy I work with recommended No Cull.
when I was looking for a self guided Rio hunt, Rush creek in TX came highly recommended. I will be hunting with him in April, the owner seems like a great guy
Thanks I will look into them.
Me and my buddies chose and booked with wildlife systems down in south texas in McAllen texas. Going in March 2023.
I killed my rios in Oklahoma. We used Rio Rojo outfitters west of Lawton. They had plenty of birds and let us hunt our way. No blinds or feeders and we done the calling. The guide basically took us to the spots and said go get em boys. They insisted they controlled the first mornings set up but we could call. That is fair, so they see if your able to be on your own. After the first set up the guide turned us loose. We killed 4 birds in three days.
