Title: Predator Control
Post by: Gobble Nole on June 13, 2011, 03:08:33 PM
We have worked over the past 5 years to reestablish a healthy turkey population on approximately 1,000 acres by feeding, plots, and controlling the hunting pressure.  We have not done anything in regards to predator control.  Would trapping raccoons and possums and hunting coyotes and bob cats make a significant difference over time?

Gobble Nole,

We had an experiment in Florida on 2,000 acres by poisoning predators 10-80 and it did no good.  The predation rate was not reduced.  Trapping will do no good.
