Title: M2 Compact vs Affinity Compact vs M3020 Compact
Post by: southerndrawlgamecalls on May 06, 2022, 11:03:37 AM
I'm trying to decide between these three guns. To my understanding the stoeger only comes in 26 inch barrel, and is about 3-4 inches longer total than the other two, but actually a tad bit lighter. Is the extra few inches a huge deal or do those with experience with that gun not mind the extra few inches? Between the franchi and benelli, I'm having a hard time justifying the m2 $ besides the fact that it's a benelli. Which of the three seem to be the most liked? Also looking at the weather by sa-08 compact but not sure I want to go the gas route. Whichever I get will have a ff3

I have a M2, I have a friend who has a Stoger.  I also know people who have the Franchi.  In hindsight if I had it to do over I'd buy the Franchi.

Thanks, I've seen that said a few times, and I think I'm leaning that way.

I have the stoeger and really like it. I've heard great things about the franchi as well

The Franchi is already drilled and tapped. They also have a dedicated turkey model with the steady grip. My boy and I run Franchis and have been pleased.

I use a Franchi Affinity 3 and love it.

It is my understanding that Franchi and Benelli are both owned by Berreta. Benelli design features are incorporated into all the Franchi's.  I believe Stoeger may also be owned by Berreta as well.

Whittaker's in Kentucky had before season a pile of affinity compacts. Black 24" barrel. 799. I bought one  and had it dipped for 200 more and it shoots awesome.

Don't overlook the Tristar Viper....I have one and it's a hammer.  Not the name recognition but it sure shoots and handles very well.

I have decided my next gun project will be the stoeger 3020 compact. I plan on having the barrel cut and tapped. With the weight of that gun it should be in the neighborhood or the ultralite by the time its finished. Maybe a little less.

The Stoeger 3020 Turkey model has a 24 inch barrel and is drilled  and tapped. Very light and a great shooting gun(front sight is hideous) but that can be taken care of. With that being said if you haven't looked at the Retay 20 gauge Masia Mara turkey edition , I would consider doing so. Mossy Oak Bottomland drilled and tapped 22 inch barrel. It has become my favorite! Both are great guns, I have a 3020 in Bottomland with a 26 inch barrel also. I can't speak for the others you mentioned as I have never owned one. All the guns you mentioned are inertia I do believe, I do like those better than gas . Good luck!
