What is the one call you never leave home without, that never leaves your vest? I'm not talking style of call but the one specific call you wouldn't go in the woods without. Mine is an enticer double trouble. It will flat out scream, and it will tone way down for the soft talk. I have plenty of calls but that is the one call that never gets replaced. What's yours?

A slate call w/o a sounding board, wood frame with a slate disk glued in. Super sweet soft calls.
K&H hammer slate. My wife and son got it for me for Christmas years ago. Even though i cracked the slate, it still works, and it has accounted for several gobblers. It will always go with me till it doesn't work
anymore, whether i use it or not.
Supreme Pure Death corian pot with Neal's mac ebony or snakewood stiker. Cary both strikers and either sound so good on this call or any other pot I might be carrying they're always on deck.

K&H glass hammer! Picked it up for 6 bucks in a clearance bin. My go to call by far.
Mouth call
Cody Woodsman slate. This call has been the demise of many longbeards.
I always have an SS holly walnut scratch box with purpleheart striker.

A $7 dollar hs strut raspy old hen mouth call, I have called in and killed a lot of birds with that cheap little mouth call the last decade or so, I always have one stuck in my hat, I buy a new one every year.
Gooserbat's bacon. Did you know turkeys like bacon? They sure do!
Mouth call. And what I like varies a bit year to year with a couple or three that are always in my call carrier.
I hope to make a truly great sounding pot call before next spring. I made a few this year but none were where I want them to be quite yet. I was still able to take a bird with a call I made tho.
I have a lot of good calls, I vary them through each season so the birds don't get too used to hearing one call-plus I just like using different ones.
I have two. One is the squealing hen, the second is like posting spots on metube, it's better left to only the few who know. Populations are already in trouble!

Hooks Heartthrob Diaphragm
SS Custom Calls ebony and holly scratch box. It's a wonderful call and has been the demise of many gobblers.

I don't leave the truck without a Buice Yelper around my neck. All I ever carry anymore ;)
If I had to carry a trumpet and nothing else, I may never kill another turkey. I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I have some beauties and I will be working on 'em for next spring for sure.
Buice trumpet for sure.
I always carry one main yelper and two or three pot calls. I trade out yelpers; I trade out pots; I trade out strikers for those pots (except one striker). But the call that always remains in my vest is a little, simple Ralph Permar improved Jordan. Probably because it fits in a striker holder and so I just leave it there, but also it just carries such a different sound than whatever primary yelper I'm toting that I always consider it an advantage. Lots of times when I can't get nothing else to strike I fall back on that little phenolic resin yelper and it'll get one to gobble.

For the past 15 seasons I almost always carry this little slate call Randy Clark made for me when my twin sons were young. It's great for early morning soft talk and reminds me of some of the good times I've spent with my sons. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220424/b7310dfbb7521d401a8960bed461406d.jpg)

Mr. Bush crafts an incredible longbox.
For me, its a Snodgrass longbox. It goes everywhere. Everything else gets changed around but the longbox is always along.
Split V III diaphram.
Primos-----Titan 2000 Titanium Fused Crystal
Mouth call: Realistic, easy to carry (several), and most versatile call, and the only call that can be used without movement.
A mouth call is the call I practice on the most, and still like using the least though. I find it far more "fun" to use friction calls, and have enjoyed calling birds in on Scratchers as of late.
I have 3 that are always with me-all pots. Paul Hicks red slate, Paul Hicks glass, and Darin Dawkins Aluminum.
Halloran purple heart over cedar. Not my most versatile call, but my most productive.
Halloran crystal mistress
Hooks diaphragm calls - the executioner or Persuader
Well, two actually. My Billy Bush longbox and my Cody glass.
Crystal Mistress and my pouch full of mouth calls.
Halloran Twisted Sister
My Primos Gobble Shaker tube has brought in many gobblers, especially in the late season when competition for the remaining hens still looking to breed escalates the peck order. They come in mad, so get ready to shoot!

If I ditch my vest and am only pocket carrying like I do late in the day or when warm sometimes, I always grab:
HS Strut Triple glass
HS Strut Raspy Old hen
I don't think those are the best, just that I have used them and called in so many birds I have confidence in how I can make them sound. Both are simple and effective.
If it is a rainy day, I leave the Triple Glass and carry my Yingling Wet Dry glass call.
I always have a mouth call in my shirt pocket and a Lonnie Mabry aluminum pot that sings
River cane in the south, Pinhoti grey ghost anywhere else.
