He's gotten some jakes but never a tom. This was a fun one. Took 45 mins to get in range. I've been practicing gobbling with a diaphragm and decided to give it a try and it worked well. When they lost interest I'd gobble and they'd be curious enough to come closer and look around. One got to 40 yds but my boy couldn't see it due to the lay of the land so I got to watch another 10 minutes of a Tom strutting in shooting range just waiting for him to walk left. He ended up being in my boys sight at 30 yds and he dropped him.

That's a great story, not a lot of sons today have fathers that'll take the time to teach them about life and how to hunt. Congratulations to you and your son for taking a nice bird.

Awesome. Congratulations to you both. My daughter's and I have been hunting the youth season here in NC and haven't been able to get a gobbler in close. Had a chance on Monday but had a neighbors dog run out in the field and run them off. Congratulations again brother
