While watching all this Joplin stuff. With hurricane season here in the south and with me possibly getting laid off in August Im getting some stuff together just in case. With all the bad weather...we are over do for a big one here in coastal Ga.
Got a 160 quart cooler....nice one. Will keep ice for 6 days in summer. Ive got it filled with some of the stuff below already in case of emergency so I can throw it in the truck and roll if I have to. Obviously all my camping gear is packed right by the door for easy access, two tents, couple over sized cots, sleeping bags, chainsaw, tarps, and my boat gas cans....slam full with stabilizer in them. Ive been told....gas is the hardest thing to get in emergency times so Ive got 28 gallons ready to go. The boat is loaded with fishing gear and the generator. Im a hunter so I can keep the family fed living off the land, my main concern is shelter....worst case scenario.
1. Recycled milk jugs, filled 3/4 way with tap water and frozen( about 8 of them
2. thermocell with a dozen refills
3. About 25 cans of soup. Found Cambpells brand at a store for 1.00 a piece
4. Browning 22 cal pistol with two bricks of shells (1000 rounds), for shooting critters and defense
5. Flash light and batteries.
6. First aid kit and bottle of tylenol
7. Couple hunting knives
8. zip lock bags, box of 1 gallon size
9. 6 propane bottles, my stove, and lantern
10. Seed packets with various veggies ( you never know)
11. hammer and handsaw, box of 16 penny nails, army shovel
12. Roll of braided line
Can yall think of anything else that may be worth putting in there
Wet Ones, Toilet Paper, Hand Sanitizer.
Oh, man. reminds me to throw a bottle of peroxide in there.

Crank style radio, Meds that you take on a regular basis. Plastic tarps, and Dont forget your Bible.
Matches, Candles, Battery operated radio,leatherman tool.
Hopefully you wont need any of this stuff !

two-way radios came in handy during the power outages here in Bama. Cell phone service was hit or miss at best for a few days after the twisters came through.
dont forget your turkey call in case your stranded out in the woods you could call a turkey up and shoot it for the family to eat. ;D
5 bic lighters, baby asprin, dry beans, instant coffe, gps, soap, first aid kit, beef jerky, mirror, deck cards, salt and pepper, 5 pds flour, bug spray, small tarp, glo sticks, chickin and beef bouilon, extra cell phone battery, dried fruit
Get a coupe of cans of gas for the generator or to gas up the family car and get out of dodge - During hurricane season I have a couple cans and treat them with a fuel preservative - If you get a hit the power may go down for a few weeks--
Get one of those cheap camp hot shower kits with the black bag that heats it up solar power - cold showers suck

Be a good time to get an extra cell phone battery just in case.
Simple gun cleaning kit because that gun isn't worth a thing if it fails at the moment of truth.
