Title: Duh!! How these topics work.
Post by: joey46 on March 05, 2022, 05:36:39 AM
There are some members requesting a certain thread be removed involving a certain super secret state.  Whenever there is a comment made to this particular thread it keeps the subject active and high on page one.  Just the way these forums work.  If you want a subject to die - don't comment on it!  Btw - coincidentally I had already researched this "secret state".  There are outfitters on Jim Shockey's Book Ur Hunt selling hunting packages there as we speak.  With the internet there are no secrets.  I live where every tv hunter starts their season chasing the elusive Osceola.  Oh well.  Six dollar gas may slow some down a little.  I was lucky to have experienced what I believe was the peak turkey populations in both Ohio and Kentucky.  The DNRs in both states have listened to the resident whiners and raised the prices of the non-resident tags to where I have second thoughts about return visits even though I still have friends in both places.  Maybe the residents of this "secret" state can petition for an exorbitant non-resident turkey tag.  That will slow down the visitors more than anything.  Good luck.

Everyone runs to the land of mik and honey and then complains bitterly when it becomes a barren wasteland. We are our own worst enemy.

Yep just leave it alone!  Instead it's become a zombie thread. And, the not to be named state is one severe winter from quickly becoming below average. The nor'easter of several weeks ago might have started the trajectory already.

Last I looked, at least 40 percent of the posts were against the threads very existence. They can't help themselves. Let it die. WTF?

Or how about "we" learn to not create irresponsible posts or content?  That would solve everyone's discontent.

Unfortunately, the "we" you are referring to here is the "choir" that has been around long enough to understand the impact loose lips have about divulging location specifics.  There are too many folks around that are willing to sing too loudly...   ::)

Back in the day when I started turkey hunting , Turkey hunters never ever revealed where birds were at. If a turkey hunter devulged that kind of information , it was a plain lie to throw you off. The old saying " loose lips sink ships " is still something I live by.

Agree.  And therein lies the problem.

There is no such thing as a lie in turkey hunting.  I sleep just fine at night.  Discretion is our friend and sharing information one on one is best no matter what is considered acceptable by today's standards.
