Boss man called today and gave me a surprise bonus. Been wanting to get a 20 for upland and turkey. Was eyeing the Benelli Montefeltro, little heavier than the ultra light but still a light model to cut down on kick for upland hunting. What recs do y'all have?

Benelli M2 would be my first go to if not worried about how much I spend. Currently I shoot a Franchi Affinty 3 compact in 20 gauge. It has been impressive so far.
This youtube channel here is the best I've seen for shotgun reviews and might be what you're looking for: https://www.youtube.com/c/TargetFocusedLife
The guy reviews tons and tons of shotguns. Most of them wing shooter guns but could be used for turkeys too I suppose.
I hated my 20 ga Montefeltro and sold it. For 20 ga I currently have 2 390s, 1 A300, and 1 Affinity. My preference is for the 390s above all else.
If I were picking buying a 20, I'd look at the Benelli SBE3
I love my SBE2
Top end, Benelli ultra light, would need to get it dipped. Mid range sort of franchi Affinity.
Lower end Mossberg SA-20
M2 or a Retay.
Walked into Bass Pro in November for something with a buddy, saw a sweet Winchester SXP went back the next day and bought it. I now have a SXP in a 20 and 12 gauge love them both. Hard part is gonna be picking which one comes out to the woods each morning this spring.
I love my 20 GA Benelli Monte. It's light, slim and reliable but some 3" turkey rounds might rock you. I like my Winchester gas 20 guns for turkey.
Looks like I will go against the grain but I love my a400 xplor in 20ga. The lightest recoiling 20ga I own by far.
To kind of change the conversation, I like the traditional look of a wood stock. But feel that a blued gun doesn't handle the beating of a dipped gun. Considering getting the gun cerakoted, or just caring for my blued guns better.

I like my Beneli, Id take a Franchi without hesitation and for a pump the Winchester SXP is nice.
For a semi auto, I love my Stoeger 3020. Benelli M-2 is always a top gun. I have 2 Mossberg Sa-28, I would think that the Sa-20 is also a good gun. 870 is also tough to beat. No wrong choice here.
Yildiz SPZ over/under. One barrel choked for close, other barrel choked tight for longer shots.

This is a cerakote job on a 20. It had synthetic stocks and a Natgear camo job that was looking rough from the years of use. I found the stocks on ebay and had the guys at Charger Arms do the cerakote on the action, barrel, and end cap. I told them I wanted it to look like blueing. Waiting on my limbsaver pad to arrive and she will be complete.

I own a benelli m2 , a winchester sx3 and a retay. All 3 are great guns but the winchester is heavy. I hunt them all but I really like my retay turkey special. Its almost identical to my benelli with a much cheaper price tag. All 3 function flawlessly with heavy 3" turkey loads. I have some trouble with light loads in the benelli and also have to be a little more observant to prevent the famous benelli click.
If you get a M2 change the recoil spring before you take it out the house, Wolfe Spring. Otherwise, sooner or later it will give you the Benelli click.
When you do that, you no longer will be able to cycle low brass shells.
I've got a nwtf m2 that I won and the wife has a montefeltro that I bought her both are good guns.

Yes. Pretty common. Comes from to bolt not being fully seated. Not a issue if you change the spring or pay attention. I crawled on a bird once and a small vine hooked the charging handle and took the bolt out of charge. Needless to say , when I squeezed the trigger , I got the dreaded click. I find myself constantly checking it throughout the hunt. Changed the spring and problem completely disappeared.

Looking at these Wolff springs they have hammer and recoil springs. Then each of those they have extra power and reduced power. Which do you recommend?

Heavy recoil.
I think it takes a 13mm socket to change out, pay attention to the shims placement. It an easy job.
Have multiple Benellis, no click ever, even waterfowl hunting in the marsh or frozen pit. Stock springs. Just an occasional check and never had an issue, you just need to be aware of the cause.
I bought the Benelli M-2 compact, shooting tss handloads and it is deadly!
I use a stoeger m3020 20 gauge. I like, good price too.

another vote for the Stoeger 3020
I love mine
I bought a Retay MasaiMara recently and I really like it, the bolt system eliminates any possibility of a "click" and it cycled low , high whatever I put in it,the trigger assembly comes out in a matter of seconds for cleaning with a push button system. I also have a Stoeger 3020 and they are good inertia driven guns also that have served me well. Very light!
Benelli Montefeltro is a sweet gun, but love my Franchi Affinity 3. Started with an 870 and still use it from time to time.. all 20ga beast with TSS.
2 years ago I bought a Benelli M2 Compact. Had it dipped in bottomland and added a fast fire 2 and IC .555 choke. Shoot TSS No 9, 1 7/16 SparrowHawk hand loads. Best turkey gun I have owned..
I'd go with the Benelli M2 20 gauge, It's light and I enjoy taking it in the woods.
I hear good things about the Franchi Affinity 3 but look at the Franchi Affinity 3 Elite Turkey gun. I like mine!
I bought a Benelli SBE3 20ga and love it. Light weight and no click in the 3.
you probably can't find one but an 11/87 20 gauge is an awesome gun. i use mine for turkey, bear, duck, and upland and love it
my second choice would be a tristar viper g2. i like gas guns for turkey so i don't have to slam the bolt when loading the gun
Mossberg 500/ 20 Gauge-- 20" Barrel.
Mossberg SA-20. w/ Burris fast fire 3. Wife used it this year to kill first bird. I did have trouble with it shooting light loads and re-cycling during sighting in, so I just went to "trap heavy load 6's" and no issues. Love the gun.

I should pick up my new SA 20 today. Looking forward to getting it out to the range and she what she can do. Still haven't decided on which red dot but I'm considering a green dot, maybe the Kingslayer.
M2 or the newer SBE3 would be my picks if money were not a factor. 20's don't get much lighter than those two. Would also recommend adding a pistol grip. Did this a couple years ago, wish I would have done it sooner.
No love for the Weatherby auto 20 gauge?

I always liked the features on them but since they don't make the popular featured 20's any more, folks move on to something more readily available.
I've got a 870 field master20 on order .

Currently have the Urbino from Mesa Tactical installed but also have the Benelli SteadyGrip. Both are made for the 12 gauge but fit the 20 with some slight overhang at the receiver, which hasn't bothered me enough yet to sand it down.
The Urbino is a shorter LOP than the SteadyGrip, so factor that in if deciding between the two. I did add a limbsaver slip on pad to the Urbino to bring the LOP closer to factory.
Not a semi auto. But I love a 870 youth. Short and light. No reason to carry a 20 if it's the same size as 12 ga. Only advantage at that point is recoil. So my vote goes to some youth or compact model.
