Title: D-Day June 6, 1944
Post by: WyoHunter on June 06, 2011, 05:29:47 PM
This past weekend I watched a couple of TV shows commemorating the greatest military undertaking ever. It was called D-Day. I hope we can all remember those who gave their lives in this assault by saying a prayer of thanks for their sacrifice. At the same time say a prayer for all those who served in order that we can enjoy our freedom in this great nation of ours.  :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an

Can you imagine for one second what those hero's went through that day? It's truly amazing that any of them could live a normal life after seeing all the carnage. God Bless each and everyone of them.  :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an

My Grandfather went up that beach and later got cut off behind the lines in the Battle of The Bulge. A year or so later he broke his back in a jeep wreck. He finally made it home and lived a somewhat normal life till his kidneys failed probably due to the metal plate in his lower back. He died at  48 years of age. Watching that movie Saving Private Ryan gave me chills! I cannot imagine what he felt when he went up that beach.

Here in Bedford Va. The D-Day Memorial is built because more people from Bedford than anywhere else died on that beach. A great tribute to the boys from Bedford. God Bless them all.  :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an
