Title: Callmaker shops and mancaves
Post by: gobbler74 on June 06, 2011, 02:47:13 PM
Hey folks...looking for your shop or cave pics. I am currently working on my new call shop. Insulating and wiring just started Saturday. Hoping my wife understands that being in "the doghouse" ain't so bad with a cooler and satellite tv... ;)

Looking good there!  Mine is too cluttered right now to put pictures up...  :o

Somehow cleaning the shop takes a back seat to paying the bills.

I have to fight my way in my current shop too. Hoping to have a better layout here and room for a better dust collector. Planning to have a chute in the back to throw scraps which will empty into a bin outside...this is going to eliminate half the inside cleanup.

My new shop is a bucket compared to what I've seen on other call maker forums. Some look like they belong on mtv cribs. I look at those for ideas. She's all mine though paid for as I go. Its all I can afford. Obama care isn't paying for mine.  ;)

That's a shop I would be proud of. Enjoy setting it up like you want it.

It would be cool if you had a porch with columns shaped like strikers.

Sweet idea..I'd have to get a longer bed extension for my lathe or at least rig a dead center.

Yes it's gas and I love it. Toggle switch on/off and a thermostatically controlled fan. This one is a Napoleon, really easy install.

Good deal. I've been thinking of infrared heaters that are supposed to be economical to operate..have to see what square footage they are good for..don't want something that's iffy.

The thing about infareds is they heat by heating objects that then radiate the heat into the air.  That's why you see them in garages and such; the heat the floor slab and the concrete radiates the heat to heat the air.  Unless you have a large heat sink like a concrete floor slab, you might want to consider another source.

Thanks for the heads up. May have to look at propane brick heaters.

I guess I used the term "gas" loosely as mine is propane. With the optional wall mounted thermostat and fan it should be both functional and good looking.

First of all Gobble 74 Very nice new building i hope you enjoy it once your finished and Gslam thats a dream man cave WHOOOO!! Ok so here's some pics of where im making calls now and the shop corner where my half (me & my friend building calls as a team) of whats soon to be Tobacco Row Custom Calls  will be done in the near future A HUGE THANK YOU first to  the GOOD LORD & MY DAD for giving up some space in his dream bldg to his 34yr old son. I cant say enough about what that means to me.

First part i turn the calls in a enclosed add on @ my girlfriends parents house (we spend alot of time the past 6mths here b/c her mom getting treatments for breast cancer)
Second part is where i saw my blanks and drill the holes (shed @ my dads house a few miles away)
and finally where hopefully i can do get it all done in one place/ CORNER(LOL) place eventually
(http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h340/TarheelTurkey/DSCI0512.jpg)

Not anything special but it works for the time being. Thanks for starting this topic its been interesting

Almost done wiring my shop. Got most of it done today. I've been just a helper on the electrical ...woo hooo! can't wait...hopefully be workin in it my mid Oct. Gotta build work tables, blank ranks, a couple equipment pedastals, darn wiring has held me up waiting on those folks. Man cave room and display will come afterwards.  One thing I found out. Whatever number you have in mind for price of wiring and electrical, better add another 50% I'm almost down to saving aluminum cans. LOL

Well guys checking in. It was a long hot summer, wiring delays and mandatory ot at work made it hard to get finished on the shop. I'll say this, I just finished a few strikers tonight and I'm kicked back in my high back shop chair with my feet on the table having a drink. Got some tunes on and the rain is hitting the metal roof...shooooot I'm good till spring, see yall!  :icon_thumright:

Some good looking shops.  I'm still using 1/2 of a double garage.  Of course the lawn mower , pressure washer and all that other stuff tends to get in the way at times.

Well Yall remember back in the summer I posted up a pic of this..

Here's a little view of the inside.

Huntin room on the other side of this door. I've got the walls done but haven't built gun racks and display case for calls and such. Got a sleeping loft and home amenities for visiting turkey huntin buddies. It's got its own entrance you can see from first pic. I won't finish it till after spring season 2012 but I will post up pics then.

An old plate my dad give me. It's a 1936 Missouri tag with a couple bullet holes in it..probly shot up in a junk yard but thought it was cool to hang up a little  history.
