As I write this my wife is on the phone with our vet. The time has come to say goodby to my buddy George. We named him George ,after George Jones. He has been a good ol boy and will be dearly missed. R.I.P. my friend.

I feel for you my friend. I am in the same situation now. My black lab is 16 years old and is almost deaf & part blind. I got him for my son Rick on his 15th birthday. Rick would have been 31 this Sept. Both his hips are bad but he can still get around somewhat. He just wanders around the neighborhood sometimes in a daze. I really dont think he is suffering or hurting bad but I just cant make the decision to put him down. He is truely my best friend. Sorry, I just had to vent.

My Shorthair is 15 1/2, and I was going to put her down because she was totally out of it mentally, but the Vet had me try a medication he recommended. That was 5 months ago, and her dementia is gone, and she is doing fine except for the old age isues with back, hearing and sight. Definitely a miracle drug for dogs.

:jesus-cross: RIP George, it is so hard to let them go. All they ask is food, water and a pat on the head. In return you have the most loyal friend there is. Sorry for your loss.

That's so so sad!  I've been a dog lover for more than 50 years and have had quite a few and loved them all.
I know it may seem unthinkable right now, but you can honor him by going to the pound and saving the life of a pooch that'll be put down because no one wants to love them.
  R.I.P. George!!

Red. My heart aches for you and your wife. I know how that is the hardest thing in the world to do. I am still grieving over my Springer (Hershey), and it's been over ten years. May George rest in peace, and perhaps meet up with Hershey and discuss how much they meant to their owners. God Bless, my friend..Mike

Sorry to hear about your loss.  Been through it a few times and it is the hardest thing I have ever done.  I try to focus on all the great times and memories...Only time and maybe a new pup helps heal the wounds.   RIP George!!!!!

Man, I hate to hear that.  George looks like an easy going dude.

I lost a good one last week while I was out of town.  Tore my wife up pretty good.  Damn snake got her and I guess she'd been biten one too many times over the years.  She started getting better after the trip to the vet, then just went south and passed last Monday.

I lost my best buddy Max last year and it is tough for sure.  I still think about Max frequently and don't think I'll ever have another like him.  Think about the good times, it'll get easier before long.

RIP George.

Well put and so true. My beloved Greta, my Drathaar, is terminally ill and I dread the day when she's gone. The vet said if she's not in pain and can get around OK to put off the inevitable. Tears come to this 67 year old man's eyes when I ithink about it. Believe me when I say I feel your pain.

Man, I said the same thing to my Vet. They can help Dogs, but not people?
