Who makes your favorite strikers? What style of tip do they make, and do they make anything unique? I use and really like Fowler and JLH, but that is about the extent of my knowledge.
Clay Townsend persimmon top over snakewood is one of my favorites alone with Osage top snakewood Fowler striker alone with other ones . Anything from Clay is killer in the strikers, i really like the tips of his strikers .. I'm not a big fan of JHL strikers. IMO.. but a lot of people like his strikers .
Some of my favorites besides the already mentioned Fowlers, are Neal Hermans, Derrick Stuckey (obsession calls), and my favorite Bill Lymans. I don't hear a whole lot but about his strikers but I also really like Wendell (lights out) just got some of his in the last 3 months or so.
Jeff Harrison of JLH strikers, anything he makes is good
Bill Lymans
Clay Townsend, Bill Lyman, and Derrick Stuckey.
So I have a fairly vast number of custom strikers that's almost embarrassing to talk about. I collect them and try to use them all, but alas, one season isn't long enough to get through them. I'll share custom makers I collect from. The vast majority I have are from JLH. I like the look and balance they have and they tend to play well for me. I have many strikers from Derek Fowler, Dustin Holzman, Bill Lyman, Derek Stuckey and Neal Herrman. Those are my top makers. I have some from a few others I like but the ones I just provided are my favorites. I have every wood imaginable and many you've never heard of.

I believe it is. Strikers have given way to trumpets for me now. I'm a ways off from buying a trumpet though. Learning a cane yelper first, then a wingbone.

Lyman and Halloran
Oh I forgot to mention Larry Gresser at Prairie Game Calls. Damn good strikers and very affordable. His other calls are top notch as well!

Other than my one piece strikers, I use Bill Lyman strikers as well.
Lyman's and i got a Marby that will play on anything..
Lyman
Fred Cox and Dad's .. Another guy who turns a great striker is Andy Kaiser.
Jeff Harrison JLH STRIKERS hands down great guy that goes above and beyond to make sure it is the right fit. :turkey2: :turkey2: :OGturkeyhead:
I'm partial to Sinclair strikers myself. I think they're very underrated

Jeff Harrison is the Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In order, JLH, Herrman, Stuckey, Wendell Rye (didn't think about him, and went and ran one of his strikers on half a dozen pots after reading this post...it'll probably end up in my vest some this season)
A more production striker (though they call it custom) that I really like is the Woodhaven birch flared tip. I have one that sings on about anything it touches. Most of their stuff I feel is more expensive than many true custom calls and doesn't sound as good. That striker gets an A+ from me, though.
Harold Fowler
Bill Lyman
Clay Townsend
Jeff Harrison
Dad's (Dewey Johnson)

Let's talk
Anything that Mr. Harold made have about 25 of the and never got a bad one.
I'm partial to JLH ,but have others mentioned here. Each hand is unique.Big,small, stubby, thin and a whole bunch in between. Each hand works a striker and plays a pot a little differently. Find what feels and works best for you .for you're hand. One that you can pick up blindfold and put to a pot and it just plays. Lots of great striker makers mentioned here. Try a bunch and narrow it down to what works for you!
I really like Matt McLain's strikers

Jeff Harrison is my favorite striker maker, just a super nice guy. But my favorite strikers are Stuckey's, not sure if it's the added weight of them or what but I just run them best and most consistent.
JLH makes some great ones

Other striker makers I like are Chad Remenaric, Paul Durham and Wendell Rye. I have a few from each. I have a couple from John Haines that I like. Brian Johnson makes some really top notch strikers and he's on my list.

Use JLH, Wendell Rye, and not the best looking, but great sound is Lonnie Sneed.
Bill Lyman
Fred Cox
David Halloran 1pc
JLH
Stuckey 1pc Rutland dymondwood
My own 2 pc

JLH after I sanded that monster flare off. To big for a trough or other small surfaces imo.

I want to thank those who tossed my name in here. It's really appreciated. Most probably don't know that I've stopped taking orders and only turn when I feel like it. I'm going to toss in a name myself and that's JLH. I had the chance to run a few of his strikers and can say without any doubt I would put them in my vest to use. Top notch work and I do like his design.

I've got several of yours as you know. They're all players!

I have a lot of JLH strikers as well as others mentioned here and can say they are top-notch people to deal with. Right now out of all the strikers my favorite is JLH frog wood. It runs most of my pots...my go to
How do you buy a striker or two from JLH?
his Facebook page has some sporadically for sale but can you just message and order from his inventory? Or is it just as they come on his Facebook page?
You can send him a msg here or on FB...
He's usually pretty good about getting back to you.
And he would also like to thank everyone for the kind words!
I just received two in the mail from JLH and both of them are top notch in quality and sound
The striker that came with my mike yingling copper pot call works well on every call I have
Both of these guys were great to deal with even though I didn't know exactly what I was looking for

Thank you and it was a pleasure turning them for you.
At this point I've pretty much went to all JLH strikers. For me they just fit in my hand well and they sound great.
Stumbled onto what seems to be a pretty cool group on Facebook this morning called, "The Striker Connection." Some makers I haven't heard of turning out some really neat stuff. Might be worth joining if you like strikers a whole lot. Stuff like this...
