Finished up in Kansas Monday with my 5th Gobbler, a 77.125 double beard, which after 4 birds in the 50's was definitely a season maker. As usual worked my butt off hunting mostly Public with 4/5 birds shot on Public. Only tag I didn't fill was one in my home state, Iowa. Got my first 2 Osceolas, because of the generosity of my buddy GobblerD on inviting me to Florida, guiding for me, and putting me up. I'm sincerely gratefull to him and his family for opening their doors to someone they had never met in person. They are trully good people. Also want to thank my buddy Ron in Kansas who is always looking for new places for me to hunt in his area. I shot my 3rd Tom in 2 years off a piece of Public he had rounded up for me. Love ya like a brother buddy.
My last Tom from yesterday in Kansas. A nice doublebeard.

There is a definite place in Turkey hunting for a "grinder". Not the best of land at times, days of screwing up and going back to your truck licked/self doubting, but the next day you are at it again. Finally, it all comes together for a moment to make it all worthwhile. Kansas ate me alive this year, but I went back for an end of the season 3 day hunt, almost in dread of what could happen next to add to the beating I took earlier. In 2 days I'm back home tagged out and with my best year under my belt.
Hey Jaybird , you still need to tighten-up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :z-guntootsmiley:
Great pic--you look happy!! WTG!!

What a way to top off a season!
Way to hang in there.
Way to go!
;D You know I'm still on a high finishing off my last tag with that doublebeard. There's not many things that you do better at 64 years old, than when you were a young man, and I'll never match this season ;D Thankfully Shane wasn't there video taping that hunt, because when that bird flopped over and I saw them two long beards, I went absolutely nuts. The bird was still breathing, and I had already made 4 phone calls. :TooFunny:
