I'm thinking about getting some new camo, what I have is several years old and showing some wear. Just looking for some recommendations on which patterns to look into from you turkey experts. I hunt in WV if that matters.
Also do any of you use different patterns as the season goes along? Around here the foliage in the last week is vastly different than opening day.
Thanks
Mike

I hunt Northeast mountains. I use bottomland early season, then when cover thickens, I switch to Greenleaf. Works well. Many options out there. Good luck. PS, no such thing as a turkey expert, we all learn everyday....

I tend to run the same patterns even after green up. That said, that's why I like patterns that don't incorporate much foliage or green in that those patterns will work if there's leaves or if there's not, but a pattern like mossy oak obsession for instance will stand out like a sore thumb when the green hasn't come in yet. I stick to browns. I like the older patterns like bottomland, both the original and the new, real tree original, etc. But for the most part I wear trebark up top and leafy suit britches. I like running two different things—top to blend into the tree, legs to blend into the forest floor.

I hunt the mountains of Northern WV. Early season we usually don't have any Greenup and I think new bottomland really does well. However it probably really doesn't matter much. Most days I am wearing anywear from 4 to 8 different patterns if you count gloves, boots and gun. Not getting caught moving is the key.

If you wanna hang with the cool guys you need to have bottomland now, and everything must match!
It really doesn't matter, though I do like the look of the Mossy oak patterns, I have a mix and I do wear an Obsession shirt later in the season when it warms up, also wear a non hunting pant in OD green then, more comfortable and better fit than any camo brands for me, Prana stretch zion.
And I may well have 3 patterns on at a time.
Bottomland and natural gear mostly is what I wear. Although my favorite pants are woodland bdu's. I have some obsession as well. I don't worry too much about it just whatever is clean.
Having hunted WV my entire life, it won't matter what you wear. I'm sure you've had turkeys walk by in rifle season while wearing blaze orange. If you didn't move, they pass on by. Same with any and all camo. The birds don't care near as much as the hunters do. I've found myself wearing army BDU's lately. It works as well as anything else.

My favorite camo pattern is called "whatever is on sale".
Since I hunt mostly pine forest and during green up, I prefer Realtree Extra Green. Not as much black in it as MO Obsession so I don't look like a BLACK blob setting in the woods.

Realtree Xtra and this year got an Xtra Green shirt to wear a little later. But as has been said, the single most important thing is to BE STILL.
I typically look for what is on sale. I have quite a bit of Mossy Oak Break up and Real tree Edge I wear before green up. After green up I like Mossy oak obsession and shadow leaf.
As mentioned already, sitting still is the main thing.
I like most anything. I wear a lot of Bottomland but it all works if you sit still.
South Central Missouri mostly hunting MTNF. Mossy Oak Forest Floor or Bottomland pants with Bottomland or Greenleaf shirt. Last year after season I picked up a North Mountain gear mid weight Greenleaf hooded pullover that I will be using this season. After green up I switch to a Mossy Oak Diffusion hooded pullover.

Bottomland and obsession. But mostly bottomland
Bottomland or greenleaf from the waist up. Cabelas leafy suit pants in brown leafy pattern. Really breaks your sillouette.
M81 Woodland or ERDL.
Mothwing Spring Mimicry
Favorite is Truetimber conceal green. I bought about 8 sets of shirts and pants from their warehouse store 10 years or so ago. Wear all of it through our deer season and turkey season and it's still going strong. Best camo I've ever had, great base camo like bottomland to use anywhere and still hasn't appreciably faded. Discontinued now I guess, can't find it anywhere. Got plenty of other patterns and heavier clothes but I wear it just about every hunt.
I wear Kuiu vias and verde
Realtree AP
I think natural gear blends in great in most timber .
Pattern really doesn't matter to me anymore as long as it's good quality clothing. I've migrated over to Sitka, Kuiu, and First Lite over the past few years. All three are top notch.

Whatever pattern happens to be the best layer or item for the situation, I have kuiu valo, first lite fusion, asat, mothwing, bottom land, and obsession.. wait my rain jacket is realtree

any camo but realtree....
Realtree AP, Woodland BDU's, and a BDU pants and jacket with MultiCam camo. Sometimes I mix and match depending on whether the woods are wet or dry.
Natural Gear for Spring turkey when it's on the warm side. I just ordered a Grounded Brand New Bottomland turkey vest. I like brown based camo.

This is my favorite as well. I often mix the brown with green shirt and pants opposite colors and its amazing how well this pattern blends. Now with that said, I'm a firm believer that being still and quiet is the number one camo regardless of what you wear! I've used everything from bdu's to mixed anything and everything and it's all worked well. Just learn to walk and move slowly and silently and when and when not to move and that'll get you in their wheelhouse!!
Mossy oak original bottomland when its early and greenleaf later. I picked up some light weight shadow leaf and really like it also for later in the season.

Same here.
I'll wear Kuiu Verde, Sitka Subalpine, MO Bottomland, MO Obsession or old woodland camo.
Sometimes all at once.

Mossyoak, for all seasons.
Although I don't think it matters a whole lot I use Mossy Oak Obsession. By the time the season opens here there's some green already and the smilax briars and gallberry bushes are evergreens. I typically buy all my hunting clothes when they go on sale after the season ends.

Mossy Oak bottomland or greenleaf.

My most successful pattern is "shut up and sit still"...
I hunt varied terrain in Nebraska, from river bottom to pastures, and for hunting everything from turkeys to deer, to waterfowl. I like firstlite fusion, but don't own much of it yet. I think natural gear blends about as well as anything over varied terrain, but it doesn't seem to come in as good materials.
It is somewhat a newer camo, but I like Realtree Timber.

Same holds true where I am. Blackberries already have leaves, dogwoods will be in full bloom by the weekend and plenty of trees are beginning to get leaves. I can't wait until Saturday!

I wear bottomland now but might get a mossy oak treestand set.
Always liked bottomland, greenleaf and old school obsession. I often find myself wearing whatever is warm/cool enough for the conditions with my old cabelas realtree leafy suit over the top however. This season I've found a couple pairs of first lite corrugate pants as well as a pair of kuiu attacks. I think I'm going to enjoy them for active spring hunting. I might wear my old cotton bibs occasionally as well if its not too wet out. They're comfy, but I hate the feel of wet cotton against my skin, and it takes forever to dry out. My thoughts these days are more on the material and design of the clothes versus pattern.
Got a little bit of everything seems like, but I prefer Mossy Oak. Bottomland, Treestand, and Obsession. Don't think the turkeys prefer one over the other though.
Bottomland, and then I switch to a leafy top from cabelas about the end of mid season.

I still have some Moth Wing camo. Not made anymore that a can find. Blends right in in my area during turkey season.
Bottomland both seasons
I also like longleaf need to check them out
Nat Gear for everything. I find anything else to be too dark unless you're in the timber all of the time.
Most of my camo is one of the Realtree patterns, but anymore there are a lot of good options available. I do like to switch to patterns with more green for my upper body as the foliage comes on in the spring.
As others have said it's all about movement, either too much movement or moving at the wrong time has saved the life of more turkeys than the wrong camo pattern.
