Title: NMG leafy jacket
Post by: btomlin on March 12, 2021, 09:06:46 AM
Is the jacket lightweight enough that when it gets into May that you can wear a SS tshirt under the jacket and stay cool??  I normally wear a LS Tshirt but after a wash or 2 the tshirts seem to really "white fuzz" and fade even when turned inside out in the washer.

I see they mention about "moisture management to stay cool" but not exactly sure what it means, I guess.

Any experience appreciated....

The answer is yes.  I wear mine down here all season, at the end it's usually brutal hot.  Sometimes in the beginning lol.

I decided to go with the NMG jacket based on the recommendations.  It showed up today.  A really nice jacket and it will be really nice once the temps get hot.  Thanks for the feedback, everyone.  15% off thanks to the OG/NMG code was nice as well!

I have one.  Been wearing it this year.  Have had hens at 15 and 20 yards, so you are good there.  It does let the slightest breeze through it.  My old one was a little cooler, but not a lot.  On a really warm day, I go with just a long sleeve T though.  Although it is not a bug tamer, it keeps the skeeters off my back and arms very well.  I am happy with mine.

Use some permethrin and No More Ticks, Skeeters or Red Bugs!

Haha I would feel hot in 88 degrees wearing shorts and a short sleeve tshirt.

Turkeys in the morning and hogs in the late evenings.

Georgia weather is fickle. A week earlier, I wore insulated bib overalls on opening day.

I wore mine in Florida without a shirt on under it. I was fine like that but that rough material was rougher on the old nips ????. The temps was in the high 50's to low 60's in the mornings

A shirtless man covered in camo pasties could have my area of the woods all to himself.  :)

I've worn mine every hunt this year and I like it good enough that I am about to buy another one in Greenleaf with a hood and try it out.

Never really liked hoods, but I also don't like headnets and am thinking I can pull up the hood over my hat and use a half mask when needed.

They are very well made and I love the bigger sizing and big pockets. The only thing that I would love to see would be two more outer pockets that are separated.

I was just out west with one of the Nomad owners last week and got to see the full line of gear put to work for four days in the field.

Their leafy jacket is unique in that it's double printed, and the leaves actually stand up instead of laying flat.  It's 100% light enough to wear as a stand alone garment on hot/humid days and it'll work well in cooler temperatures if a person layers underneath it correctly.

Of all the leafy jackets on the market, it would absolutely be my choice if i was looking for new one.

Wish they would of done the same with their leafy pants, mine are only printed on one side.

My pouch zipper on mine today broke-1st year use-exactly like the one did on my one I wore for 10 years. I don't care though, I still love it. If I cared I would make my wife sew a new zipper.

Okay, I would take it to someone and pay them to sew a new one.  I lied.   :TooFunny:

I bought one of these NMG lightweight 1/2 zips. I like it. I tested it out today. I'm in Mississippi and it was over 80 and it does get a little hot. Not bad, but all long sleeve (nomad cool long sleeve shirt with mesh back I get hot) shirts are hot for me over 70ish. I wore nomad featherlight pants and snake boots with a short sleeve t shirt and the NMG pull over. The mesh was nice when there was a breeze or walking.

That being said- I really like the leafy pull over. Like the pocket in front. Stuck gloves facemask phone on it. Hood adjustable. Around Bottom it has pull adjustment. Had hand pockets, but not sure why. Wouldn't keep hands warm if it was cold and if you put anything in them it would probably fall out when you sit down.
