Title: Modifying box call pockets / other pockets you don't use

I don't even own a box call so I was thinking about trying to remove the box call pocket from my Alps Grand Slam and replacing it with a pouch or regular pocket so it is not just empty space on my vest. Anyone have any cool modifications that they have done on their vest?

I use mine for a water bottle holder.

Mine is usually carrying a couple bananas or a protein bar. Just was thinking it would be a lot more useful if it was a general use pocket.

I rarely carry a box call.  The box call pocket is always the thing that sticks out most and get in the way the most.  But since I do carry one some, I leave it alone.

I had a nomad vest for a while and hates the way the double pot call pockets stuck out so I cut them off. Then I sold it lol. I just did a little sewing on the back of my grand slam vest to help it fit me a little better a few days ago. I hope it holds up.

I did not even know there were turkey hunters that do not have a box call???  I thought it was a rule or something???

I bought one of those box call holsters with a clip, that clips and holds on nicely to the vest (so I can carry two).  For covering ground and trying to drum up a gobble, I do not think there is a better call.

That being said, I were I to not want to use or carry a box call, I think I would remove it.  Most box call pockets are horizontal and I have no doubt that I would lose stuff.

I hear ya!  I added one to my vest.  I wasn't much of a box call guy until I got a couple from the guys that build them here.  Yikes, they are good.
